Rare? Vintage Shakespeare Steelhead Trout Reel 1900 Model HE Hardy Quality NR! This is a very nice. And I think rare, high quality made Shakespeare Steelhead Trout Reel 1900 Model HE. It measures a little over 3 1/2" across in diameter, and about 1 1/4" deep. This is a very fine made reel, and was made as a direct answer to the Hardy reels made in England at the time, but proved to be too costly to produce, so not many were made. Usually you see the 1899 model, but this is a 1900, possibly a larger model, and the only one I have seen. Mechanically and cosmetically it is in wonderful condition, everything seems to function with no issues. The spool is a black color, and the frame has a nice dark brown. I have not cleaned or oiled it, seems to have been fairly well kept. The only thing I notice is a slightly rippled area on the edge ... moreof the frame on the handle side, possibly from a drop at some time, but does not effect the function at all, not touching edge of spool, it turns freely, just want to mention for accuracy, this is a really nice reel. Vintage Penn Squidder 146 reel in excellent condition. Mechanically reel is perfect and cosmetically looks like it was never used. After I purchased this reel from a collector in 2009 I had it serviced by the pros at Penn's Factory Service Dept. in Philadelphia and reel has been sitting in my closet ever since. I will supply winning bidder with copy of the Penn invoice/receipt for this service work. Reel was internally cleaned and properly lubricated by Penn. Has new drag washers, and is set to fish or become part of a collection. Reel features bright red side plates. Red plastic spool, and matching red colored torpedo knob on handle. Includes set of rod mounting hardware. Reel weighs 16 ounces, has a spool width of 1 5/8 inch, side plate diameter of 2 3/4 inch, gear ratio of 3 1/3 to 1, and holds 250 yards of 12 lb monofilament fishing ... moreline. Steel Fishing Baitcaster Rod Penn 77 Reel Cork Handle Green 4'6" Vintage
Steel rod with no manufactures marks that I can find. Rod is small at approx 4' 6" in length. Green paint on steel rod. Some nicks and corrosion on metal. Noticeable on metal guides more so than elsewhere. Cast metal handle with no cracks or damage. Cork handle has wear and some pitting to the finish. Reel is a Penn 77 made in USA. Bakelite sides and handle knobs. Turns freely forward and backward and click control works as it should. This is a impregnated rod and has a bamboo ferrule plug with English twist guides. The f errules are brass and have a A-27 stamped on both the male and female ferrules. The rod section are not the same length by des ign. The Scottie Dog logo is visible and this is called an"88" with a line weight of 5-6. It comes with original bag and a metal tube. Up for auction is(2) vintage split bamboo fly rods both have one issue on them. The first is a very nice 7 1/2ft Premier 2 peice the eyelit is off on the main shaft. Next is a Shakespeare(3) peice 9ft with a extra tip. The main shaft is missing the metal ferral. A while back I had the eyelit for the Premier I will continue to look for it. Vintage Aluminum Fishing Rod Pole, case,Simplicity Portland 12 Ore reel
This is a vintage all aluminum rod. Reel and case that I got at an auction. The pole fits inside the round case. The reel is attached to the case and the rod attaches to it also, making the pole over 8 feet tall. There is no cap for the round case(if I find it later I will add it to the auction) Right above the reel is part of a sticker that looks like it says"Pole Rod Scot Tex Corp. Dallas Texas Sole Distributor" The reel says"Simplicity Portland 12 Ore" around the edge. I'm not really sure how the reel works but it seems like it is stripped(when you turn the handle it doesn't wind in the string) I'm not sure if any pieces are missing. The rod shows some wear but it was manufactured to be incredibly sturdy. It looks like you could use it and it would be fine) The reel and case, with the other pieces inside ... moreit is just over 3 feet long. When you attach the other pieces, they go right near the reel, leaving a long 3 foot handle and 5 foot pole. I don't have much more information about this so email with any questions. I do not have the box. On Dec-30-12 at 08:29:59 PST. Seller added the following information: This reel has a couple of small spots in the paint on the top of side plate. This is clearly shown in the original pictures but I took a couple more for good measure. The Gold Parts are in Excellent condition with no rubs or wear. Vintage South Bend SpinCast 700 Reel
This is a very unusual vintage reel. I do not know the precise date of manufacture. But I am guessing that it is around the mid-1950's. The"Care and Use"pamphlet for the SpinCast 700(included with the reel) states that it can be used as a bait casting, spinning, or fly casting reel(see illustrations in photo of pamphlet) To operate as a bait casting reel, use the larger thumb hole to control the line. For spinning and fly casting, hold the line with the forefinger, and back up the crank slightly to release the line for casting. The reel weighs only 6.5 oz. lighter than some fly reels. I must confess, I have never fished this reel. It was my father's and I am not even sure he fished it either. With the exception of a single small dent/scratch near the larger thumb hole(visible in a photo) there are no marks of wear on the ... morereel.
