This is a new. Never used Winston Boron IIISX 9 foot 7 weight 4 piece fly rod(907-4) I purchased it roughly a week ago and have since decided that i really need a 6 weight for what i will be doing. The rod has no marks, scratches, or any other damage as it has never been used. The rod does NOT come with warranty paperwork as i did register it and it does have my name inscribed on the rod. This was done by Winston at the factory and can be removed if you don't like it for a small fee through Winston. This is a great chance to save some serious dough on a $850 fly rod! Winston Fly Rod Fiberglass 7' 6" 4/5wt (Scott)
This is a very early(1960s) San Francisco Winston fiberglass fly rod and the very lightest model they made at this time. Rod is 7' 6" long. 2-Piece, 3oz and was designed to cast a WF-5. It also casts a DT-4 just as nicely. Rod is in mint condition. Brown blank ruby-red thread wraps with translucent white tipping; Winston's old"Trophy" logo; ring-style hook keeper; traditional half-wells grip; champagne. Down-locking Cal-Air aluminum reel seat; small tungsten or nickel silver stripping guide. Rod is in mint condition. There is no yellowing of the varnish whatsoever(see photos) Ferrules are in excellent condition with 3/16" gap remaining. Original red Winston rod bag and tube. No photos of the tube as it is being shipped to me from my second home; they will be posted later. Rod is in such good condition that when ... moreI purchased it in the late 1990s it still had its length and physical weight(3oz) written on the grip from the factory. This is both a blessing and a curse: at the time of production Winston was a bamboo rod builder; fiberglass rods were not a priority; consequently Winston did not bother with writing model numbers. Serial numbers, weights or line recommendations on the blanks. Hence length and physical weight were written on the cork! This fact may turn off buyers accustomed to collecting Winston glass rods from the 1970s(which had length and line weight designations written on the blank) or later rods that actually had serial numbers; serious collectors of these rods know perfectly well that these rods left the Winston shop in precisely the condition this one is in. All reasonable offers are welcome. I have seen these rods fetch as much as $1250 in the past 24 months but so few come on the market that I cannot gauge its actual value. Buyer pays shipping. Great presentation overall! The black material over the front is like velvet. Comes with a COA from a reputable company. The hologram it shows on the copy is actually affixed just above the actual piece of cigar as it shows in the photo on the copy. You can see it if you look inside the capsule where the cigar piece is kept. To add. There is a spectacular copy of the original letter from the butler who collected the cigar from Sir Winston Churchill himself. COLLECTIBLE CAR TAG- CITY OF WINSTON-SALEM. NC FOR THE YEAR 1949. This tag was issued by the City of W-S. NC during the year 1949. WWII was over and hopes of prosperity in the US was growing again. This tag is# 1059 and the"tagline" is City of Industry. The tag is 11" long X 2.4" wide. The pictures depict the tag and its condition. It has not been refurbished nor touched up since it was acquired in the'70's. Interestingly. I have not yet figured out how it attached to a vehicle since there are no holes cut out. That may be a different story. This is a very nice piece of historicl memoriabilia for the City of Winston-Salem.
