I am selling a real collectors item. You do not see these everyday. It was manufacturer by Engineering and Development Co. of Inglewood. California. It was made around the end of World War 11 and was of the finest Stainless Steel. No visable screws. Drag and Clicker are strong. Metal Spool capable of 250 yards of line. Serial Number on this reel is#1912. I do not know how many were made, but I am 70 years old and fished all my life and this is the first one I have seen. If I were a collector I would want this in my collection. I am putting a minimum bidding price as I think this reel is a real find. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. This auction is for the rod on the LEFT in the picture which is about 77 inches long with 4 guides and a roller tip. Both rods were wrapped by the same local guy about 15 years ago to look like a Penn Senator rod. Please note this is NOT a Penn Senator. It just looks like one. This rod does have a gimble on the end of the wooden butt. It does show a little bit of wear and light corrosion on the guides, but no major damage. It appears as though the epoxy has some air bubbles in it that never escaped when it was finished, this is only a cosmetic flaw and does not affect the function of the rod. Penn Power Mag 980 Saltwater Surf Casting Fishing Reel.
Penn Power Mag 980. All features of this reel are smooth and tight. Nice magnetic cast control with high power neodymium magnet. Clicker is loud. Drag is smooth. Line out is smooth. Reel has been completely taken down. Cleaned, greased and lubed. See pictures. Does have an issue: I broke a left side plate screw off in the front spacer. Impossible to drill out and Penn doesn't make these spacers anymore so it's missing a screw. The case is still nice and tight with zero movement but it is missing the screw. Does not affect function. All internal metal parts have a thin layer of reel grease. Gears have a little more liberal layer of reel grease, all case screws lightly coated with reel grease to ensure easy removal in the future.
