Probably made back in the late 1950s-1960s.No information for the rod was written on the rod.But the rod blank looks like a TRULINE to me.it is the reddish brown fiberglass with a darker brown coating on top of it. This is a Heavy action Saltwater rod. It is a 2 piece rod, and measures 6ft. 9in. long when assembled. The wooden rod end, gimble butt, and Varmac RS-5P reel seat comes apart with the nurled nut at the top of the reel seat(see bottom pic below) I'm not sure what line weight it is rated ... morefor, but I would guess around 100lb+. Quantum Cabo PTL 50 saltwater spinning reel
Here is a lightly used Cabo 50 spinning reel. I just bought this reel thinking I was going to fish speckled trout with it. Looks and feels a little too heavy duty for what I need. I went on a charter trip in the spring and the captain had all Cabo reels on high end rods. They came highly recomend ed from him is why I bought this one. I'm going to get the 40 series for the type fishing I'm going to start doing. This reel looks like it would work better for someone who fishes for bull reds or big catfish in my opinion. This reel is in very good condition mechanically. Very good minus cosmetically. There is some pitting and plating loss on the metal parts, no indication of corrosion. The spool is metal. There is a strong on/off click button on the tail plate. Both end plates are unflawed brown bakelite. The head plate has a free spool throw-off lever on the rim and a star drag on the handle. The bottom of the foot is stamped"30-85" The 1973 catalog promotes this as"Ideal for fresh-water trolling and stillfishing" The reel is rated for 200 yards of 30 lb. Dacron. It is currently loaded with monofilament of unknown test, feels sturdy and useable.
