Vintage Small Steel Tackle/Organizer Box - 10 Compartments - 1960's
For sale is a Vintage. Small Steel Tackle/Organizer Box with 10 Compartments. It is about 8'x 7" x 1.5" It is made of heavy duty steel, painted red and the lid is fastened with a 6" piano hinge that is protected by a metal flap to keep out dirt and moisture(see photos which show all the sides) It has light scratches and the paint is worn off on the bottom edges but has no appreciable dents or creases. I purchased it at a sporting goods store in the mid 1960's when I was a child and used it as a tackle box. It weighs about 1.8 pounds.

This old"SAG HARBOR" spear is in excellent condition! Cleaning revealed no cracks or repairs. The points are extremely sharp. It appears to be hand worked. Nothing is loose. There are no chips. It's just exceptional. It's 10 1/4" wide across the tines which is substantially larger than an otherwise identical one I once had. That smaller spear had two less tines. That one was marked"H D FORDHAM" but I don't see that on this one. I assume it's the same maker given the common markings of"SAG HARBOR" and nearly identical form(minus the extra tines) It's 16" long overall. As found, there is a hole in the box cover near the lower left corner as seen in a closeup photo. There is a little light wear/ rubbing on the box cover. The kit is otherwise in excellent condition. The instruction sheet is in its original position, stapled to the cardboard insert underneath the packages of leaders, feathers, etc. as seen in a closeup photo. Since the company address has a zip code, the kit was made during or after the 1960-1963 phase-in of the USPS zipcode system. The front has decals reading"ROD RACK" with a nice graphic of a fisherman in a stream in the foreground and a snowcapped mountain and evergreen trees in the background. There are a couple of minor scuffs/ scrapes on the wood and a couple of very minor scruffs on the decal but overall the rack is in very nice condition. The is a wire hanger to assist in mounting. Vintage Fishing Motto Plaque. Made from a section of a redwood tree with the bark still on the edges. This is a souvenir of Trees of Mystery, Redwood Highway. Trees of Mystery is located in Redwood National Park near Klamath on the Northern California coast about 36 miles south of the Oregon border. The designs are cut into the wood and painted. There is a pine sprig and pinecone at the top. Below that is a fisherman standing up in his boat trying to reel in the fish on his line.
