Fishpond Tomahawk Fly Tying Kit Case MSRP 180.00
This kit holds a TON of materials. I tried to take pictures that show the amount of storage space it has. Refer to those for a sense of its capacity but also feel free to let me know if you have any questions. All the original components such as plastic tubes for holding wire or thread as well as the plastic trays for dubbing. Hooks, beads, finished flies or whatever you choose to put in there are all included(pics four and five) It has dedicated space for your vise and tools as well. I never traveled with the kit so it's great shape. Looks new on the outside and only one noticeable blemish on the inside. Refer to that third pic and look for a dark spot on the mesh on the left side. That's it. It in no way effects the use of that large mesh interior bag though. The tubes and trays in pics five and six are removable. You can take them ... moreout but small. Round pieces of velcro that are stuck to the back of those tubes and trays are what hold them in place in the bag and those tend to come off sometimes when you pull out a tube or tray. That started happening almost immediately after I bought it though and it's never been a problem for me. If the tube/tray comes out and the small round piece of velcro stays stuck in the bag, you just stick the tube/tray back where it was and it will still hold it in place. Not a big deal but let me know if you have questions about it. Great piece for all but the most die hard tiers. I eventually dedicated a whole room to materials so that's why I'm finally unloading this. My hobby became an obsession ha ha.

The"Basic Fly Tying" book has wear to the edges and scuffing on the top and bottom of the dust cover, with scuffing present on the hard back cover of the book. The"Benchside Introduction to Fly Tying" book has wear to both the front and back covers and the first page is wrinkled at the bottom. The 10 empty hooks/beads containers have scuffing to the clear plastic. This is a large vintage lot of fly tying supplies. This came from a large old estate and all came from the same house. Based on the contents. It looks like a lot of it is from the 1940's and 50's. A quick search on the wax paper of the 10 or so"Gregg's Artificial Flies" from Bristol Conn. finds this supply came from none other than E. C. Gregg, who wrote one of the early bibles on fly tying in 1940. In fact, some of the bag tags are initialed with a"g" as being selected and packed by Gregg. Likewise, the bag of hooks from Jos Thomassin in Canada dates to the 1940's as well. There are lots of feathers, big and small. Dyed feathers, Moose and Calf Tail(from St. John's Newfoundland) even a bunch of teeth! No idea why those are in there? There are 10+ wooden spools of fine bright threads. Great Fly tying kit! I have been collecting this stuff for 20 years! You get my lifes collcection of tying materials. My first thompson model A vise and then I got this pro Regal vise. I tried to put the stuff in piles of bubbing and body materials to deer hair and hackle. There is tons of hooks and thread and floss along with manuals by orvis and match the hatch book. All the tools. Hackle pliers, whip finisher, sissors all kinds of unique stuff. I was a big time fly fisherman in the hills of Pensylvania but 13 years ago I moved to Arizona and my vision is not so good anymore. I used to tie size 20 black gnats! Look close at the pics! Vintage fly tying kit in dovetailed mahogany box - lots of items inside
This fly tying kit has a bit of everything: scissors. Tweezers, holders, knives, scalpels, thread, needles, magnifiers, feathers, completed flies, a vintage lufkin caliper rule, some fur samples, booklets and more! It comes in an old dovetailed mahogany box. Everything has been cleaned and put in plastic bags. Some metal items have a bit of rust, but they can be used as is. Look closely at all the photos for more details. The knives and scalpel are sharp. Note that the pocket folding knife has hald the horn missing on the other side.
