It has a few minor scuffs on the reel and some black paint missing on the reel handle. marked ABU Sweden Ambassadeur 10000 CA on the right side plate. The no.761000 is stamped on the bottom plate. It free spools good. Drag and clicker works, and runs smooth. The reel has a heavy weight mono line on it, but you might want to replace it. This is a starwheel designed for ABU Garcia Ambassadeur 5000C De Luxe made after 1975. And or for 5600CDL model made after 1978(as their earlier starwheel was in tear drop style) This one is custom made in the United States by Simon Shimomura of Fishy Business. Yes. It is plated by 24K gold. This particular design is called a"straight cut" It is totally unused but as a result the surface was not 100% completely buffed in the center area. The area will be covered under the handle for most of the part. That was unfortunate but it is still a very nice piece. There is no plating issue but Simon did not like to list it as a Factory 1st item. Buyer understand this issue on the item when buying this piece.

This is a custom made"light" weight frame in designed for classic Ambassadeur 5000C. 5500, and 5500C models engineered by Simon Shimomura, known as Mr. Ambassadeur. This light weight frame were made from aluminum innerplates beautiuly buffed and carefully plated in chrome. Weight comparison: Simon's light weight frame: 65g(2 1/4oz) vs. Regular brass frame: 97g(3 3/8oz) Usually light weight frames of this kind come with anodized aluminum innerplate that appear dull looking. This custom frame is so shinny as you can see. ABU factory has provided a special honorable ID in its foot number. As you can imagine SS stands for Simon Shimomura. I have 5 sets for sale for now. ABU Garcia Ambassadeur 6000c brake plate. Gears. Everything you see in the picture. This includes both sets of gears. Most of the expensive mechanical stuff. Don't let the fresh grease distract you from how clean this unit is. It is ready to go! This is from a vintage model. Foot number 750903. I was going to go through this reel. But ended up disappointed. It got the handle and star drag bent in shipping. What I have done here is disassembled the entire assembly that you see, Taken all the grease off with degreaser. Then liquid dish soap and a tooth brush, Inspected all the parts. Then put it all back together. I used cals grease and a paint brush to lightly coat the plate, Xreel oil where appropriate. I serviced this as though I was going to fish with it myself. As you can see it is all there. Gears are solid, all is smooth. The brown ... moreis the actual color of the high end grease that I use. It is fresh and clean. I will wrap the assembly in saran wrap so that it all holds tightly together. I used drag grease on the drag washers. That is the only service item that I would recommend. I dropped the price on this a bit. I will end up keeping it if price cannot be met. I bought this reel to use as a blue catfish reel. I ended up finding a matching reel. Identical to all my others. This reel was had 2 bronze bearings that I replace with ball bearings, I also removed the dust caps and added Reel x. Just one drop; performance upgrade that I recommend. Some of the modifications done to this reel are not even done on new reels. Garcia tends to way over lube their reels. As nobody services them. This is great, as it has saved many reels, but the never perform to their optimum. Service should be done yearly. The entire reel was taken apart. Completely degreased and serviced, including, Cleaned with two types of grease remover. touch up paint on the scratches. Sides were not perfect, but internals were great. Upgraded from bushings ... moreto bearings. NOTE: All friction surfaces were polished to a mirror finish. This takes time and makes the drag very smooth. Corrosion X and Reel X were used where required. Every part was checked out. Cal drag grease applied to the the cleaned drag stack* 20 lb yellow Offshore tight line spooled. I put a lot of time into this reel. More than the price. In other words. I serviced this reel as if I were going to own it for the next ten years. Keep in mind that most reels you buy on Ebay are going to need something. I was casting this reel for an hour in the park. Was darned tempted to keep it. It is a good size. And holds plenty of mono. Imagine how much braided it would hold. Again. The finish isn't perfect, but it is a 3 bearing reel with performance polishing. I spent several hours working on this. Save yourself the hassle.
