Vintage Fishing Montague Fly Rod & Reel 9 Feet 4 Inches Long With Cloth Case
Up for auction is a vintage Montague Redwing 9 foot 4 inch fly rod from the 50s or early 60s. It is in a canvas case that has a tear in it about 2 1/2 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. The pole comes in 3 pieces with an extra 3rd piece as shown in pictures 1.5,6, and 7. I know nothing about fishing poles so I took this one to a sporting goods store and was advised that it is a very old pole in very good condition. There is nothing broken on the pole and all of the parts are there. The adjustment screw for the drag(whatever that is) is missing on the reel. He said that many of these poles were produced in the 50s and 60s and they aren't particularly rare, except this one, although its been used,is in great condition. He also said that many times the tips break off the pole. Collapsible Portable Light Fishing Rod and Reel
Up for sale is my portable Collapsible Portable Spinning Reel and Telescoping Fishing Rod. This rod is just like new. In fact, I do not think it was ever used. We used to keep it in the car when we went out for a drive just in case we saw a good fishing spot. However, I do not think it was ever used so here is your chance to get a very handy light fishing rod that will not take up a lot of room in the car or back pack. Extended is about six feet long and when it is collapsed it is about 18 inches long. Included is the vinyl carrying case. The reel is included and there is some light fishing line on the reel already so all you need is your favorite lure and you are ready to go. I do not know the weight of the line on the reel but it is quite light so don’t go looking for a big shark etc. with this outfit, it is intended to be a light duty ... morehandy rig to take up a minimal amount of space. We had it stored in the trunk of our car so it was handy, however, that is up to you. Have a good time fishing this season. Because I c ollect anti que fly rods. All I could envision was one gigantic fly rod. Therefore. I started shaping the masts into what would ultimately become what I believe to be the wor l d's largest 3 piece wooden f unctioning fly rod and reel. I spent 9 months hand crafting th e rod and reel. I hand fab ri cated the copper ferr ul es. The steel snake guides. The stainless ste el reel seat. The African W enge wood reel and genuine cork han dle. I machined the brass for the frame of the reel. All to create a realist ic ver sion of a 19th century English fly rod and reel. The Wenge wood for the reel was used beca use it closely resembled the black walnut they used for the English ... morereels. The Douglas Fir po le resembles t he green hart wood of the English fly rods. The handles for the reel are made of marble which represents the agate han dles of the perio d. The p ole and reel have been aged and weathered to emulate the wear that an old rod w ould have. As t ime goes on. It will only get better. The length is 38 fee t long. It is a 3 p iece rod that comes a part just like a real fishing pole into approximat e l y 3. 13 foot long sections. I realize s that to scale. There s hould be one more section. But I was taking into con siderat ion that this would need to fit inside most struct ures that would have a moderately large room for display. This Fly rod ha s been featured in the D ecember 2009 Issue of Fly Fisherman Magazine Pa ge 23. It has been on display at a local sporting good s store for 3 years now for the public to enjoy. One" Antique Salmon or Trout or Ocean Pflueger Reel. and" One"True Temper Trolling Rod. Is for sale in this auction. Not the smaller reel that is used for size comparing. I included a smaller reel in the picture so to compare the size next to the large reel. Instead of using a dollar bill or a quarter or a pop can. It is not included in the auction and is not for sale. This auction is for one large rod and one large reel. It is Marked on the Reel and it was Made in Akron Ohio. Montague Sixty Five Rod.Made in the USA But unable to read it.It is worn off. I think these are old hand held trolling set ups. About 71 inches long total. Comes apart like it was not used much or stored very well. Reel has the very costly Stainless Steel Wire Line, Good for trolling or Ocean fishing. I don't know what pound test the wire line is.But ... morelooks very strong and in very good shape. Reel is marked No. 1558 Made in the USA. It is 5.5 inches wide and about a inch and 3/4 thick.Plus the hand crank and the drag knob,Then it could be 3 inches wide. Reel looks like a giant Fly reel. Line guides look very good, One line guide has minor string damage as in the pictures.But is on solid,and ready to use. Tip has its own little line spool. Rod and reel are both heavy and heavy duty. Sold as such and as described. Look very good with the enlarged pictures to see the condition. A regular antique reel was added to the picture for size comparison. The small reel is not included. Antique Vintage Ice Fishing Rod with Bakelite Handle for Fishing Reel
Rod is in good condition with no cracks in bakelite handle and metal is good. When you pull on trigger like pc it slides over reel base to hold reel securely. It measures 31 inches long.
