The tie clasp is wonderfully detailed from the metal fishing line threaded on the rod to the reel and screws. The back of the toothed clasp bears the maker's name. Hickok U. S. A. and I believe it dates from around the 1940's or so. The tie clasp measures 3" in length and made of a gold toned metal. Some of the gold tone has worn due to age and gentle wear. Also included is a hinged presentation box. The interior of the box has gold satin in the lid and gold velvet in the bottom. The velvet on the bottom does have a little bit of discoloration in spots. Vintage South Bend 1122 Fishing Reel on Vintage Wood & Fiberglass Rod !
Offered in this auction is a vintage South Bend reel. Number 1122, on a vintage wood and fiberglass fishing rod. We do not see a name on the rod. The rod is in two sections, as shown. Measures 67" long when connected. It obviously has age and has some marks here and there, as shown, and might benefit from a cleaning, if desired. The reel is signed South Bend 1122- Gladding Group- Japan. Measures 3 3/8" in diameter and 1" wide. The bottom that connects to the rod is 2 1/2" long. The reel seems to work fine, clicks when the button is pressed one way, then reels quietly when the button is switched the other way. As you may be able to see in the photos, the reel is missing three tiny screws that go into the silver connectors that hold the sides together, one on each side of the top one and someone threaded a thin wire thorugh ... moreit to connect it. One other tiny screw is also missing but this apparently does not affect the performance of the reel. Sold as-is, so please feel free to ask questions or request additonal photos. Vintage "Californian" Ice Fishing (?) Rod & Reel Combo. 45 ". Wood handle.
Vintage"Californian" ice fishing( rod and reel combo by Nestor Murphy. Made in USA. Rod measures approx. 45" in length. And the built in reel is approx. 5" in diameter. Reel still has copper wire on it. Combo has scuffs, scratches, some oxidation, and general wear. See pictures.
