Bakelite sides and handle knobs. Turns freely forward and backward and click control works as it should. Vintage Aluminum Fishing Rod Pole, case,Simplicity Portland 12 Ore reel
This is a vintage all aluminum rod. Reel and case that I got at an auction. The pole fits inside the round case. The reel is attached to the case and the rod attaches to it also, making the pole over 8 feet tall. There is no cap for the round case(if I find it later I will add it to the auction) Right above the reel is part of a sticker that looks like it says"Pole Rod Scot Tex Corp. Dallas Texas Sole Distributor" The reel says"Simplicity Portland 12 Ore" around the edge. I'm not really sure how the reel works but it seems like it is stripped(when you turn the handle it doesn't wind in the string) I'm not sure if any pieces are missing. The rod shows some wear but it was manufactured to be incredibly sturdy. You are bidding on these 2 estate found. Fly fishing rod& reel combo kits. I don't know the exact age, but they are vintage. I purchased all of the fellows fishing rods, but I don't fly fish at all. The red colored reel is a Martin# 81 Automatic Mohawk reel, that is mounted on a Martin"Tuffy" rod.The rod is around 9' long, and the recoil on the reel does work very well. The trigger on the reel needs cleaned up, it is kinda rusty looking, but works well and looks as though it will clean up. The green reel is a"Mohawk-Horrocks-Ibbotson" Co, Utica-NY#1106. It works very well, but there is no griese in the gears, and does need to be griesed. The rod is is just marked"3500 F G 7' All eyelets are in place and seems to be solid. Thanks for looking.

I was at an auction one night and this man came in carrying the 2 poles I have listed. They were wrapped together with the old line you see on the pole. I had seen a couple of these steel rods but never had the chance to buy them. They really are a rare breed to find in any condition. They were so dirty I couldn't tell what kind of reels were on them. As you can see. It turned out to be the zebco 11. This one and the other one I have listed I bought them with the same reel on them. I've always enjoyed restoring antiques. Everything from cars to furniture. This was the first time I ever done fishing rods and reels. I have a new respect for those who take the time to restore them. If you collect these but have never cleaned one of them up, you need too. If you buy these at what I have them listed for, you should be arrested. It's ... moreagainst the law to pay someone to work for less than minimum wage. The time it takes to painstakenly restore these rods is amazing. Everything is so time consuming. When I restore antiques, I don't restore them to look brand new. If you like them that way, thats fine. I don't like to take all the character out of them. I like the fact that they have been used and when you look at the 2 I have listed, you will see what I mean. Believe me, if I wanted these to look brand new, I have the bead and sand blasters to do it and it would have been so much easier and faster. When I started cleaning this rod, it didn't take it all the way back to bare metal. The color you see is from where they tempered the steel and I left it that way. It is clean, it's just brown colored from the tempered steel. Personally, I think it looks better than shiny steel, which by the way, these rods were not shiny steel. Most of them were painted. I also left the copper winds around the eyes bare. Why would I cover them up. I didn't take the reels off in the pics, but trust me, it's polished under them and the co. logo is plain and clear. This reliable rig was purchased a little over a year ago for both personal and guide use. I no longer need it and although used. Is not abused. No major wear. We're talking both rod and reel as well as a Cortland precision WF#4 Floating line(one of my favorite lines) I am leaving the factory loop on however I'd suggest a fresh nailknot+butt section be added. The reel is the 4/5 model. The rod comes with the tube and sock. It's ready to fish! No need to spend tons of money on fly fishing. I'd call it a solid and quality all-around trout/panfish etc. rig and by a reputable company. The action is not super fast but certainly not slow. Great for dries actually. You will note the close-ups showing some spots of wear. These are the worst you will find and most of the rig is clean. The rod is in very good condition.

Vintage 4 Piece Sunnybrook Steel Fishing Rod w/ a Pflueger Akron 1893L Reel
Vintage Sunnybrook four piece hollow steel rod made by Union Hardware of Torrington Connecticut with a Pflueger Akron 1893L reel. The rod is approx 50 1/2" long with a cork handle. The rod is straight and has all the line guides with the red inserts. All line guides are still solid and not bent. The cork on the handle has a couple dents but still looks good. The cap on the end of the handle is missing the two small screws to hold it on so it is loose and can be pulled off. The rod does have some paint loss on it but overall looks good for its age. The reel is fully functional and cosmetically looks good with a couple small scrapes on it. NOTE- I will ship the rod unassembled and wrap all four pieces seperate in bubble wrap along with the reel.

But it could easily be glued in place. I didn't do it because I don't know if that's how they came or not. The marbled plastic has no chips, only some scratches as can be expected.
