Vintage Hardy Bros. fly reel "Perfect" model
Vintage used Hardy Bros. Ltd fly reel. This reel was made in Alnwick England and is Hardy Bros. Ltd 3 1/8" The'Perfect' flyreel. Patent numbers stamped on the side read: 24245&9261. It also has stamped Duplicated Mark II. The zippered padded case it comes with was made by H J Collins Mfg. Co. As near as we can tell this reel is right hand retrieve. Research found extra reels available. This reel comes apart by holding the inner reel while turning the handle counter clock wise. Once you take the reel apart you can see the small ball bearings in the center that give this such a smooth reeling motion. We also ran a small test on the crossbars to make sure they weren't nicked or worn and would cut away at your line. By running yarn across both sides of each crossbar we were able to determine there appear to be no burs on ... morewhich to cut your fly line. Classic Sage 106M fly reel - excellent used condition - with backing
Up for bid is(1) Sage fly reel. Model 106M, in excellent used condition. I have had reel since new, acquired around 1994, and reel has been taken care of and used sparingly on the North Umpqua River. There is 30lb backing presently on reel, and probably should have 20lb backing instead. I got this reel when I was first learning to fly fish, and I probably invisioned larger fish than I actually ever caught. Reel is 3 5/8" outside diameter. This exceptionally made. Yet simple reel was made in Redditch, England for Sage by J.W. Young Company, and uses a click type drag system that can be converted to right or left handed retrieve. I fished it with WF-6F line on my Sage rod, but upgraded to newer reel after learning to fly fish. I sometimes question why I ever quit using this reel because some of the more expensive reels sold today are more ... moretrouble and less efficient than this simple reel. Up for bid is one vintage SEA GULL- German Silver& Bakelite Salt Water Reel. It has a strong clicker controlled by a slide button on the back plate. It has a lever handle to disengage the handle for free spin of spool. It has a knurled knob at each end of the axle with a spider spring at one end. It has a 2:1 gear ratio. It measures 3-1/4" diameter. 3-3/4" deep counting the handle, and has a 3" long by 11/16" wide foot. The reel is in good working condition. On the handle side it is inscribed with"SEA GULL" and"GERMAN SILVER" Above the words'SEA GULL' there is a flying Sea Gull, and on each side there is'TRADE' and'MARK' There is some writing below the words SEA GULL that is to faint to read any of it. The German Silver has some staining on the face. It weighs 1 pound 0.4 ... moreounces. With packaging it will ship under 2 pounds. Here is a South Bend No. 1201 Level Winding Anti Backlash reel. It comes with the original box. Instruction sheet and South Bend Black Oreno line card. The reel appears to have been fished and is in good working condition with a strong clicker. I'm not sure the leather bag, with a split seam, is original.
