This is for a little dipper spoon or ladle that I believe to be silver but with it's age it has nothing that says it is silver. It is marked on the back with G. GRAY for George Gray and what little information I could find is that he was a silversmith in Dover. NH from 1826 to 1865 and since like I said before that with it maybe being that old would explain why it doesn't have any markings that are used now for silver. I am not sure what it was used for, could be a master salt dipper spoon or possibly a mustard ladle/spoon, I put a dime there to compare the size of the bowl. The handle does have the initials LF in script. It is nice for it’s age but of course does have normal use wear. It measures approx. 4 ½” long and the bowl measures approx. 7/8” across. Up for auction is this rare Sterling Silver Lid Sugar Jar and Sterling Sugar Spoon. The jar lid is stamped Anchor for Birmingham. Queen Victoria I for 1838-1890, The letter C for 1851 and lion for sterling. Can't make out Maker(if you reconize please tell me) The Sterling Sugar Spoon is from London 1858 Elizabeth Eaton. RARE" Fully hallmarked. The Jar is 4 3/4" inches tall, the spoon is 4 1/4" inches long. A few small dings in lid from use but still looks nice and NO loose parts. Not sure if thick glass or crystal. It benefits from having no engravings and no removals. Hallmarks are; The lion passant to guarantee the sterling silver standard. The City mark for Sheffield. The date letter"n" to show that it was assayed in 1905. A maker's mark for James Deakin and Sons. Condition- Good to very good with just light surface marks. It might benefit from further cleaning.
