WALLACE STERLING SILVER - VIOLET - GOLD GILDED PRESERVE SPOON
Up for bid is a wonderful Wallace Silversmiths sterling silver preserve spoon in the popular Violet pattern which originated in 1904. The bowl of the piece is gold gilded and has an interesting shape. This piece measures approximately 7 3/4" in length with the handle measuring about 4 5/8" long. The back of the handle is marked with the Wallace mark(R.W, Stag Head& S) and Sterling. This spoon weighs approximately 52 grams. This piece has been hand polished for your immediate use. It does have a single letter fancy script monogram that reads“K” There are no dents. Bends, repairs or evidence of heavy wear. It does show some use marks and scratches including a deeper short scratch on the back of the bowl near the front edge. The gold gilding is strong on the inside of the bowl with some small dark spots. There is some loss to the ... moregold at the heel area of the spoon. The overall pattern is nice and bold with great patina. It will be a fun addition to someone’s collection. Please watch my auctions for other unique sterling& silver plate items. I couldn't find the maker or the pattern in my book. The mark looks like a'C' with a'W' after it. You can see how beautiful and intricate the pattern is in the pictures. It is 5" long. So may be a child's spoon. It has'Clara' on the front and'1899' on the back. The teaspoon is in excellent condition showing very minor wear. No dents, I didn't see any flaws at all. White Star Line Mustard Spoon - Shipping / Maritime / Cutlery / Silverplate
This delightful little mustard spoon was produced for White Star Line by G and S Co. Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co of London. I have spent quite some time researching this piece but there doesn't seem to be very much information for me to work on. I have a little information about the silversmiths who made the spoon and found that between the years 1888-1898 they operated under the name G and S Co, and from 1898 until they amalgamated with Garrard and Co in 1952 they operated under the name G and S Co Ltd. The hallmark on this spoon doesn't include the'Ltd' symbol. The other mark on the reverse of the spoon is A1 for silverplate. Whether you are a collector of spoons, silverplate or maritime items I am sure that this mustard spoon will please. I decided not to clean it apart from gently rubbing the areas around the silver ... moremarks and the iconic WSL flag with my thumb to make them clearer for the photographs. I feel it is for the winner of the auction to polish it or leave as is. VINTAGE COIN SILVER MASTER SALT SPOON J W MAKERS MARK
Up for bid is a vintage coin silver Master Salt Spoon. The spoon is marked on the back J W within a rectangle. I am not sure of the maker but it could be Joseph Wyatt. I found the mark on the Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks and they attribute it to Joseph Wyatt(possible) So they aren't certain either. Hopefully some kind eBayer will recognize the mark and let us know. The handle of the spoon bears a monogram in a graceful. Flowing script"A R B. Coin silver was commonly used in flatware in the late 1700- late 1800s. The spoon measures 3 3/4" in length. It bears the normal and expected faint surface marks from age and gentle polishing. This is a wonderful vintage coin silver Master Salt Spoon. It is monogrammed“JJ” on the handle front. The piece is marked[MILLER] in crude lettering in a serrated rectangle. This may be the unattributed[A MILLER] mark recorded by Currier. Plique a' jour is an enameling technique that was an important part of the Art Nouveau period. Often used in Jewelry but also used in the decorative arts. Made to honor Nature in its styling. Plique a' jour looks like stained glass in a Sterling surround. This piece has decorations like the feathers of a Peacock. And reminds one of a Tiffany Window.
