Bottom has round felt covers. Condition is very good but there is one tiny gouge on the edge that should be filled with plastic wood. Not too bad though. This offer is a vintage hand painted carnival game sign that was owned by Billy O'Conner's Irish Concessions of Knoxville. Tennessee. It is 23.5 X 36 inches and is painted on to 1/4 inch plywood. I have two of these signs. The other one is packaged with my new offer of five vintage carnival signs. The edges show some damage. But this is one of my favorite carnival signs. Beautiful colors, with a good balance between the airbrush, and hand work. Carnival signs were thought of as throw away art. Use them as long as you could then pitch them and get new signs painted. Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letter & Painted Wood 8 inches Tall
This fair/carnival outfit ran an average of 6 concessions at each event. Usually working 4-5 events at the same time across NC, SC,GA andFL. Their home base was near Fayetteville NC. The operation started in the late 50's and ran until the late 70's when they sold out. Many of the letters and signs are beyond use. However, the letters and signs you see listed have been cleaned with an organic mixture that removes any dirt, mildew or mold. Most were stored in a metal trailer and if you have ever been to NC in the summer you know the intense heat and humidity they have been xposed to inside the trailer. Thus, the poor condition of the paint. Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. ... moreThey each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. This is a hand-made game board to be used to play Chess or Checkers. It is made from a very hard stone and looks like a kind of Marble. It was purchased by a Navy man on active duty somewhere overseas. It has some small chips here and there from the cutting of the outline of the squares. The black squares looks like they were dyed somehow. And the light colored squares are the natural color of the stone. The coners of the board have some chips that I tried to show in the photos.One corner looks like it was broken off and glued back together. It is a good patch and not very noticeable. I would say overall, the board is very sturdy. It is from the late 80's but don't know the exact year. It weighs over 4 lbs. This is a real one-of-a-kind and very conversational. Offered here is an old and original 1951-1961 Rocky Bridges Adirondack baseball bat! Please see all five scans. I found this bat at an outdoor antique faire here in Oregon. Not sure if this is a store model bat or game used bat; hopefully. My bat pics and description will help you bat collectors out there determine that(I welcome all questions/comments! This vintage baseball bat measures 34" in length. The end of the knob says"55D" The bat is a McLaughlin-Millard. Inc. Adirondack 302 Northern White Ash model. Says"Flexible Whip Action" on the bat. On the fat part of bat. Says"ADIRONDACK" in block letters, accompanied by Rocky Bridges name etched into the bat in script. Underneath that, says"Flame Treated" faint) As you can see. There's old white tape on the handle. There looks to be a hairline ... morecrack on the lower handle, which travels up into the taped portion. Most of the white markings are still present and quite legible. Everett Lamar Rocky Bridges had an eleven year major league baseball career. Spanning the years 1951-61. He played for: Brooklyn Dodgers. Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels. He only had a career batting average of.247. But did make the 1958 American League All-Star team. He was born in Refugio, Texas. Condition: the bat still has nice wood grain and patina. It's a solid hunk of wood. To be sure! Big Game Saltwater Fishing lure You are bidding on two identical saltwater big game fishing lures and one has a skirt that is about ten inches in length. The jig heads have a hollow center and double heavy duty hooks that do show some minor finish rust but the strength and sharpness is still apparent. The jigs weigh about 3 ounces and these are in used condition but do have many years of fishing left in them.
