Up for offer is a beautifully original 1938 F. E. Thomas Co. of Bangor Maine. 9 1/2 foot, 6 1/8 ounce, 3 piece, Streamer Special bamboo fly rod with two tip sections including the original bright green pouch and brass capped aluminum storage tube. The pouch and tube assembly are in fine shape. No original tube sticker or build tag were attached or found. The tube label, as pictured, was affixed by the original owner and matches the description of the inclosed rod assembly. This used rod is in as found and photographed condition. Uncleaned and unmolested. A thorough inspection found this item to be in excellent condition with a glossy original finish and NO integrity issues. No chips, No cracks, No repairs and No loose hardware. The only issues noted are, some slight gouging in the cork handle. Apparently this is from the snake guides, due ... moreto close quartered storage. A common issue among tube stored rods. And the main section has a very slight bow, near the ferrule, in line with the deflection or action of the rod. Not readily noticeable. This rod has a half wells grip with integral cork reel seat. Set up for a mid arbor reel, tungsten tips and snake guides, agate tungsten stripping guide, tight nickel silver ferrules and is marked on the butt cap"Dot 242" as photographed. This rod was found in Kitsap County. WA and has not been checked against the original F. E. Thomas Co build ledger. It is unmistakably original and a treasure. Rod only New sage rod/ reel case available for 20.00. It was not suppose to be in the photo. its one of my all time favorite fly rods. was on my is on my"Never sell for any reason" list but i just have not used it ot a few years and my grandson took the reel with the 6 wt line on it. My experience is a moderate rod that casts almost effortlessly. I think owners keep their original Streamers because one rarely sees them for sale.
