Up for sale is a very unique alkaline glazed miniature jug. I believe this to be a Southern piece. It was found in Jemison. AL. It is initialed HS but could also be SH. It has cobalt blue on the top. I could not get the cork out( without damaging it) to see what the inside was. It is 2 1/2" tall(2 3/4" with cork) and 2" at its widest point. Here is a remarkable piece of Mobile Alabama fire department history. This is a badge with a very early pin back. This type of script 2 and the type of pin dates it back to the late 1800's or very early 1900's. This was a storage unit find, the former owner was from Mobile and this was in the unit when I purchased it, here in North Carolina. The badge is in superb shape and condition for the age, and the fact it was just in a cigar box of little small junk. It was a very blessed find. The Mobile fire department# 2 started in 1875 I belive according to the research I did. It is still in existence but is now know and Fire rescue#2. Here is a great looking vintage and rare pennant. It is an old pennant from ROCK BRIDGE CANYON and BALL ROCK MOUNTAIN OR MOUNT near Hodges, ALABAMA. It has a scene of the Mountain in the artwork. This place is better known for its natur al bridge an d waterfalls. This is one of the se smaller 7.5" mini pennants. You see a lot of these that(I believe) were put out back in the 40s 50s and maybe into the early 60s. With the holes punched on the left side and the little black bar running up the left side. One neat thing about them is they made some in o dd out of the way locations. I am guessing they had sales people out scavenging the country and would make one of these pennants(cheaper/thinner fab ric) for anyone who would buy probably even a fa irly small order. So some of these out of the way pla ces ma y have not had t hat many of these ... moremade up and they become great hard to find collectibles. It is a super collectible piece for a local Alabama collector or someone who has visited this place. I would assume it is r are and would be very difficult to find another.
