Great Lakes Canada- A group of 3 tug boat receipts dating from 1868. These were provided to the master of the Schooner John A. McDonald by the masters of tugboats which towed the McDonald between various ports/locations. The tugboats involved include the Levi Johnson. With a home port of Cleveland. The Quickstep. With a home port of Buffalo. And the Home. With a home port of Erie. These are all originals. And are part of a larger group which I will be listing over the next short while. History: The Scow-Schooner John A. McDonald was built in Port Rowan in 1863. And was active on the Great Lakes, particularly on Lake Erie. She would take on a cargo, often lumber or"pail wood" then contract with the nearest tug boat to haul her to the offload destination. The John A.
