Vintage Southwest Pump Company from Bonham Texas Inspection Advertising Paper Holder! We got this out of an old Gulf Gas and Oil Company Distribution Center that we purchased and picked. We bought two of them and they were jamed packed with merchandise from all the way back to the 40-80s when they closed. This would have been at the front of the gas station displaying their inspection records on the pumps they were using. Out front the station had two soutwest pumps from the 50s. So this inspection record holder was from the 50s and made for those two pumps. It is a rare and unusual find! It does need to be repainted and restored. You can leave it like it is though. It would look ideal next to your southwest pump company pump that you restored. We did not come across any of the sheets of paper that fits inside this and the one inside this ... morewas so messed up from the weather. Sorry but we tried. Gulf road maps were half this size and consisted of only 3 panels. This Rand McNally produced map is in excellent condition with very modest soiling to external folds and a very minor bump to one corner. Cool old Give-A-Wat toy from the 1930s era for Gulf Oil and Ga Stations that is a thin cardboard tpye material blimp with two red wood pieces at each end and a red string attached. Back says: New High- Power Gulf No- Nox Gas. An older gentleman where I got this told me he had one and told me how it works. You put a flat rubber band all the way around both wood pieces. The Directions on the back say: Hold end of string. Whirl around in circles. As you spin it around, the rubber band makes a noise that kids liked in the day. Gulf Oil"Please Pre Pay" Gas Station Sign This"Please Pre Pay" sign was from a Gulf Oil gas station in downtown Easthampton. Massachusetts, and is a dynamic piece of vintage gas station signage. It was made by Ace Signs. Inc. in Springfield, Massachusetts, and is made out of a metal wrapped surface on a hollow aluminum frame. Since this is a vintage sign that has seen some bumps over the years, I'll point out the character marks(all of which are visible in the photos) The re are holes drilled through the sign where the mount points were. As well as two holes(used for hanging the sign) on the top rear frame, and various small holes on the sides. The corners and edges have been slightly bent or dinged over the years. And there are some scuffs on the face of the sign(as shown in the photos) Additionally, the Gulf Oil ... moresign is actually a heavy-duty sticker covering a Chevron logo, likely changed when the station switched owners. GULF OIL "LAUGHING MAN" ~~One-of-a-Kind!!!~~ Acetate Record 1939
Many of you know me. And aboutmy collection of"One-of-a-Kind" Gulf items. It makes me sick to sell some of these but you gotta do what you gotta do! In 1939. Gulf started an ad campaign called"The Laughing Man" The theme was"Gulf Laughs at Winter" and talked about Gulf's Gulfpride Oil that held its viscus properties even when the temperature went down. Something we all take for granted today, but a big deal back then! Anyway, Mr. George Heid, from Dormont PA was the Laughing Man. He made this ORIGINAL ACETATE recording of the laugh, about 10 or 12 minuted of him laughing! It is actually very funny. It was used by the producers of many radio spots in that period. THIS IS AN ACETATE RECORDING. And will NOT play with a normal record player needle! Besides, it was broken in half, and glued together. Doubt seriously ... morethe grooves are exactly lined up. It displays very well, but forget playing it. Now, the good news, well, kind of! SOMEWHERE, I have a cassette recording of this record. His family still operates this studio, and in the late 90's I took this record there and had them make a cassette of it. They were thrilled to see the old record! Anyway, I can't find the cassette box. I have 20 or 30 Gulf recordings somewhere. If and when I find it, I will send it free of charge to the winner, but it's not a guarantee thing, since. well, you know. Also included with this is a photo. Used by the graphics dept. that produced the company magazine, The Orange Disc" They made a clay model of a laughing man, and this was the model as displayed at a trade show. Early Skull Rack Agiba- New Guinea 1960's This early skull rack agiba comes from the Papuan Gulf in the Southern Coastal area of New Guinea. It was part of the collection of Peter J Eddowes. Peter was stationed near Rabaul in East New Britain from 1961 onwards and was the Officer in Charge of Wood Utilisation and Marketing at the Papua New Guinea Forest Products Research Centre from 1965-1981. During his time in New Guinea he amassed a substantial collection of Gulf art. Agibas like this one were used to store skulls of enemies which are believed to contain power which could be used to benefit the village. Vintage Gas Tank Propane Float Guage without the guage on the bottom. This is an old float we found in an old gulf distribution center. We just bought out another which makes 2 old Gulf Distrubution Centers and both have lots of merchandise from it from the 60s-80s. I'm not sure of the age of this float. As far as I can tell it works fine but it doesn't have the guage in it. I do have some in my store while supplies last that do have the guages in them. It needs some cleaning but the mechanism moves freely. All of this can be seen in my pictures and I suggest you look at them to make sure you agree with the condition we have stated and make sure we have not missed something.
