You are bidding on a super rare find of an ORIGINAL. Advertising piece from the York, PA Fair(at least that is what I think this is) This is an interesting piece made of ceramic, shaped like a pointed ear dog with advertising written on it that says“Souvenir York Fair” on the front. This piece measures 2 1/2 tall by 3 inches long. A very nice piece of York Fair history from a long time ago. CONDITION: Good. Lettering on the banner does have some wear and paint loss. There is a small nick in the dogs bottom ear. Looks like a hairline crack near his head. The bottom may have been repaired.just cant tell if it is a seam or if it was cracked and someone glued it. Its somewhat has a typewriter action as the drum does move from left to right if the knob on the front is turned either way. It will need cleaned up since it has attic dust on it. At the time of its completion in 1902, was, and still remains, the longest stone masonry arch railroad viaduct in the world. Constructed between April 1900- April 1902 by the Pennsylvania Railroad, it has forty-eight 70-foot spans, for a total length of 3,820 feet(1,164 m) The bridge crosses the Susquehanna River about 5 miles(8 km) north of Harrisburg. Pennsylvania. The eastern end ... moreis in Rockville and the western end is just south of Marysville. The original bridge on the spot opened on September 1. 1849, when the PRR began operating over it. The Northern Central Railway began to use it after abandoning their Marysville Bridge. The current bridge was built by Italian laborers, who worked for two contractors(Drake& Stratton) one on the east side of the Susquehanna River and one on the west. Local people from the Harrisburg area also worked on the bridge. For most of its life the bridge carried 4 main line tracks. They were reduced to three in the 1980s when the PRR Main Line was modernized across Pennsylvania. In the late 1990s an intermodal container was blown off an intermodal freight train and landed in the river prompting Norfolk Southern to reconfigure the track layout, terminating the wye track to Enola at the west end of the bridge. This reduced the number of main line tracks to two, but left a buffer zone on either side to prevent further containers ending up in the river, although high winds from the departing December 2010 North American blizzard resulted in a similar outcome on December 27, 2010. Measures 4" by 8.5" Condition is as you see in photos. There is crease on cover paper near staples from opening it and some light soil marks on the paper. STACKPOLE AND BOWMAN and more. there are a few spreads shown here but there are more I could photograph. the item has silver foil stamping on front as shown, the cover has some wear on edges as shown and the pages inside are nice and not ripped or damages. While little proof of that remains in today's robust, almost urban atmosphere, there are tidbits of saved antiques that show the signs of the times. One unique item in particular might catch the eye of local history buffs. THIS VINTAGE IRON STAND is a lot more than an article of houseware junk. The three-footed. Iron plate was commonly used to place a hot iron on, while waiting for it to cool. But, it is the symbol and wording along the plate's edges that have you wondering more. The piece. Which measures: 6x4.25x 1 inches in size, bears the insignia of a former Pottstown iron furnace. Made by Colebrookdale Iron Co. Pottstown PA. Bearing a crown and cross logo. The stand was formed right in the heart of Pottstown. According to the area had a rich ... morehistory for such iron pieces. Over 285 years ago the pig iron industry in Pennsylvania had its birth in a small stone blast furnace located in the forests of presentday Berks County. Pennsylvania, said the site. Thomas Rutter and associates, established the first iron works in Pennsylvania in the year 1716. They built Pool Bloomery Forge on the banks of Manatawney Creek, near presentday Pottstown. The forge was built to support the community around it. And help settlers in the area to work their ores into metal pieces. In 1720 the furnace was completed and was named Colebrookdale Furnace. To honor the works by that name built by Abraham Darby, in Shropshire, England, explained the PA Iron Works website. Darby was a prominent ironmaster of his day and a member of the Society of Friends(A Quaker) Rutter and Potts also belonged to the Society of Friends(Quakers) Potts. Most locals know, would later be the"founding family" of Pottstown itself. The iron works furnace stood for quite some time. Colebrookdale Furnace& Iron Works had a long and prosperous career. These are two antique Griswold 6-inch dampers. They were made in Erie PA. Both have the same 4 patent number on them. But they are both are a little different by where they printed the writing. As you can see, the one is missing the spring part of the handle. These really look cool hanging on a wall.
