A wonderful map of this region. With hundreds of place names not typically found on smaller maps and a remarkable level of detail. In VG. Mostly clean condition, some gentle marginal toning[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] Will look very nice for display. Once framed. Sheet size measures c. 21" W x 15" H. Engraved area c. 19" W x 13" H. Folio. Original fold line as issued. 14621] Any defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. ... morenote: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Pin is over 25 years old, making it vintage. In those days. All police vehicles in the province of Quebec looked very similar as they were all white with a blue stripes. The only changes were the name of the city, vehicle numbers, agency crest and small things like phone numbers, etc. The shoulder patches were also all identical. Quebec midget Count Philippe Nicol booklet, ca 1935 with photos
This booklet is 4.15 by 4" on slick paper with 28 pages half of which are English and the other French including the covers and 7 pages of photos with shared center spread. Philippe Nicol spent much of his childhood traveling with circuses and the booklet tells how he moved from this to become his own manager and business. He was born in 1881. Married little lady Rose Dufresne of Mass. built the Midgets Palace in Montreal in 1928, the same year he and his wife became parents of Philippe Jr. The booklet is not dated but the photos of Junior suggest he must have been about 9-10 years old. The booklet has pale yellow covers, white pages, and was a souvenir sold to tourists who visited The Midgets Palace. There are great details and lots to admire of the many talents of this Count. 800x600 Up for auction is a unique set of topographical maps of Quebec broken into eight sectors: Buckingham. Cabonga Reservoir, Grand Lake Victoria South, Maniwaki, Mont-Laurier, Ste-Agathe, Tomasine, and Vimy. These maps were produced by various parts of the Department of Mines. Each map measures about 24 by 30 inches. The scale is indicated as 2 miles to the inch. There is no specific date given but the magnetic declination is shown on one map for 1940. My wife’s dad used them on fishing trips to Quebec back in the mid-1900s. They are in pretty good shape. The paper has yellowed a little, and the edges are frayed and torn. However, the actual maps are generally clean and not damaged, most damage isolated to the margins. A little writing on some maps.
