The collector was a hobby archeologist and went on many digs throughout the U.S. and has been featured in quite a few articles for his collection. Deco 1930's-50's Tall African Man Warrior Statue w Spear Ceramic Hagenauer Up for auction is a fabulous. Tall statue of a seated African Man or Warrior holding a metal spear. He measures 11 inches tall to the top of his head and the spear is another 4 inches above that. He is very similar in style to a Hagenauer Bronze. He has a grass skirt or loincloth(similar to Hagenauer as well) He is made of ceramic or terra cotta and painted semi matte black with ruby gloss lips. The piece is stamped on the bottom with numbers(2302) and a mark that looks like a C. Sadly he is cracked in 2 places- one on the leg and one where he holds the spear- this has been glued and could probably be improved upon with a little paint rubbed into the crack. South American Spear
This spear is about 6 ft. long and has a counter balance on the other end. Good craftsmanship and a great addition to any collection. I had a local expert look at it and he said it was from a South American tribe. But I did not write down the exact tribe. He said many of these were cut down to fit in the GI's bag when they came home from the service and he said it was good to see one complete. I can add pictures upon request if someone is interested. Great detail. I hate to part with it, but it does not go with anything else in the house and someone should enjoy it instead of it being in a closet. 15" ANTIQUE FORGED IRON PILUM TYPE SPEAR HEAD DATE UNKNOWN England This is a 15 inch Pilum type iron spearhead found in England. I do not know what century it is from- it is forged of iron. And is fairly evenly pitted, yet well preserved. It has a long socket with a slight taper and a long fairly straight seam that runs from the base almost to the head. The socket still has the original wood shaft broken off inside. A core sample was removed and identified as being white oak. The 6" head is a simple flat forged leaf blade, pitted but intact. The piece is"as found" and has not been restored in any way besides being treated years ago with special iron wax to protect it from further oxidation. Weighs 188 gms. The blade is approx. 2 1/4 inches wide and approx. 13 inches long from the tip to where it meets the shaft. I did not remove the blade to check the complete length. The wooden shaft is tapered at the end and is approx. 1 1/2 inches wide where it meets the blade. There is an iron ring that was used to hold the blade in shape. This ring is loose. The blade is also slightly loose in the shaft. The blade has some light rust from being stored for a long time. This type of spear was carried by many of the Northern hill tribes; the Ifugao. PAIR OF NOTTINGHAM FISHING REELS VINTAGE/ANTIQUE SPEAR-BACKED. NICE CONDITION Thank-you for looking at my auction. And good luck in the bidding. Here we have a pair of wooden spear-backed Nottingham fishing reels. My Dad(who lives in Nottinghamshire) found them while clearing his garage out. He was given them by his Dad when he first took up fishing as a boy, and they weren't new then, which makes them 80 years old at the very least- my Grandad apparently told my Dad they were Victorian, we have no way of telling if that was really true though. Nice condition for their age. A bit grubby but not damaged. The larger reel is 4" diameter, the smaller one is 3.5" Both reels spin OK, the larger one does catch a little at one spot though. The small reel has ha d a small'M' or'W' scratched into it on the ba ck. International ... moredelivery is available. The £10 shown is only an estimate.
