This primitive point was found in the attic of a private collector that has been undisturbed since 1946 according to family members and the newspapers that were in the crate that this item was stored. The collector was a hobby archeologist and went on many digs throughout the U.S. and has been featured in quite a few articles for his collection. Some of his fine items have been on display in museums. Please note that this particular item is not one of the fine pieces. The majority of his collection was dug in the Burlington County area along the Delaware River banks and/or the farmlands of Birmingham NJ which was the home of many Lenape Indians for more than 400 yrs. Where ya gonna find one? For sale is an 18th c to early 19th c hand forged iron screw on spear for a tomahawk or pike. It has a median ridge and hand cut threads. It measures approx 4 and 1/8 inches high and a hair over 1 and 1/4 inches at widest. The screw is about 3/8 of an inch diameter. This is in great condition with minor surface pitting. That's my collection number on there. Which probably means nothing to many of you. I have had it about 10 years. Its from a New England dealer/collector of great renown. If you need it money couldn't buy it. I didn't need it but bought it anyway, cause you never know. It's just exceptional. It's 10 1/4" wide across the tines which is substantially larger than an otherwise identical one I once had. That smaller spear had two less tines. That one was marked"H D FORDHAM" but I don't see that on this one. I assume it's the same maker given the common markings of"SAG HARBOR" and nearly identical form(minus the extra tines) It's 16" long overall. Antiqe Filipino Moro Warrior Spear Budiak Original Shaft Philippine Insurrection
An original Moro Warrior's budiak. These spears were brought to the United States by army officers taking part in the Philippine insurrection in the first few years of the 20th Century. This spear is complete with its original shaft. The head fits firmly into the shaft. The tang is coated in an aromatic resin.The socket also contains the resin. The overall length of the head including the tang is over 15.5 inches. The overall length of the spear is approx 83 inches. The shaft is a type of dark wood which is almost black. It has remained straight. The bottom tip shows a nice color and some wear thus leading me to believe that it has not been trimmed. There is a long brass collar on the shaft where the head meets. The collar is made of three pieces and the brass appears to have a high copper content. The base of the head has a small brass ... morering.The blade is very heavy and sharp. It has a nicely worked neck. It should clean easily and etch to bring out a damascus pattern. Being a subjective matter I will leave that up to the buyer. I will ship either Parcel Post or Priority whichever is wanted by the buyer. Figure on a 76 inch 7 lb box from the 23601 zip code. No handling charges. Have had this piece for a few years trying to find out vintage and country of manufacture. Perhaps someone can help. So any information would be apprieciated. From what i was told, considering it has a square shaft hole, it is authentic, i could be wrong, so i am selling this piece as is with no guarantees implies or expressed. Has cool engraving on one side all over axe hook ceneter and axe blade. Has a crest on the center of axe blade. Spear point is broken off, and has a bit of surface rust on the whole piece. Tip of lower part of axe blade is broken off as well. Center of blade has a spine, so being reinforced i would again believe it is genuine. Square base with collar. Has a hole drilled through bottom of shaft. Interesting piece, with probably a great deal of history. Up for bid is a very interesting and unique pair of hand-carved wood mini replicas of what seem to be Native. Tribal, or fantasy weaponry including a spear and maybe a battle axe. The wood is split a little farther down than it looks to have been intended where the stone fits into the handle; this can be seen in one of the pictures.These items measure 10 1/2" for the spear and about 7" for the battle axe not including the tassle and are sure to be a curious addition to your collection.
