Hudson Hastings was a Pen Name used by C.L. Moore. This magazine isn't quit newsstand fresh but its pretty close. The cover has little tearing along the edges along with some wrinkling along the spine. There is also a small'a' written in pencil on the W of the title. The cover is bright and still retains much of it's gloss. The spine itself has some folding top and bottom and is wrinkled also. The interior pages are tight with off white to yellow pages. For your consideration: 5 Fossil body scutes(armor) from the Atlantic Sturgeon and 4 Skull caps from a Sea Robin collected from the famous(and currently closed to collecting) Lee Creek Mine in Aurora. NC. They are from the Pliocene Yorktown Fm, approx. 1.5 million yrs BP. They show some fine detail. The Sea Robin skull caps, while not particularly rare at the mine, are rarely picked up because of their non-descript appearance. So in that sense, they are RARE! Atlantic Sturgeon Acipenser oxyrhynchus The Atlantic sturgeon is among the oldest fish in the world. The fish can reach sixty years of age! Fifteen feet(4.6 m) in length and over eight hundred pounds(360 kg) in weight. Rather than having true scales. The Atlantic sturgeon has five rows of bony plates known as scutes, which is what we have here. Sturgeon can often live to the ... moreage of sixty years old. Accounts of sturgeon over the age of one hundred were not uncommon in colonial times. Atlantic sturgeon are benthic feeders and typically forage on small invertebrates(e.g. crustaceans. Worms, mollusks) Spe cimens weighing over eight hundred pounds and nearly fifteen feet in length have been recorded. But they typically grow to be six to eight feet(1.8–2.4 m) and no more than three hundred pounds(140 kg) Atlantic sturgeon under six years of age stay in estuaries with brackish water where they were born before moving into the ocean. Sea Robin Prionotus sp. Prionotus species are generally small(17-45cm) bottom dwelling fishes inhabiting temperate to tropical brackish and marine environments(180-300m) Searobins can be identified by their highly textured. Bony heads containing sharp spines and their extremely long pectoral fins, which lack any connecting membrane and give the appearance of legs. Ukraine today) on the western side of the Cimmerian Bosporus, was founded by Milesians in the late 7th- early 6th century B.C. In the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. the city was the residence first of the Archaeanactids and then of the Spartocids dynasties of Thracian kings of Bosporus. The last of the Spartocids, left his realm to Mithridates VI Eupator, king of Pontus. Half of a century later, Mithridates himself took his life in Panticapaeum, when, after his defeat in a war against Rome, his own son and heir Pharnaces and citizens of Panticapaeum turned against him. Peipiaosteus pani Liu and Zhou first described in 1965 from the Juifotang Formation. Pani Lake, Liaoning province China. One of three sturgeon families from China. I believe this family to be extinct but China has what are basically living fossil sturgeons. Normal size is six to 12 inches but has been found over 24 inches. The plate is 18x7 and the fish is sixteen and one third inch long. Only accept bids from the US and Canada. This is an original copy of the 1891 Charter of the City of Sturgeon Bay. Door County, Wisconsin. It is 79 pages and measures 4" X 6 1/8" The last two photos are of a protective cover that was added at a later time. I received it from an elderly neighbor whose father was an attorney in the early 1900s.
