Vintage South Bend Fishing Lure, Surf-Oreno, Original Box, 3 Hooks, 2 Spinners
This beautifully hand-crafted fishing lure is a fascinating piece of equipment for any sportsman. It's the Surf-Oreno variety. And that name is printed on the back of the fish. It is 5 1/2" long, and is painted to mimic a small fish that is light brown, with a red mouth and dark brown stripes. The painting of the scales is very detailed, and there is a black stripe down the spine, and a light-colored, smooth underbelly. The lure is wooden, yet still very light. It has 3 sets of hooks, 2 on the underbelly, and 1 on the tail. There are 2 steel spinners, 1 at the nose and 1 at the tail to improve streamlining in the water. There are several small chips, mainly on the underside, but they do not take away from the beauty of this object. It comes in its original box, with the South Bend logo and serial number stamped on. Wood body, ap proximately 3-3/4 inches long with three sets of treble hooks. Frog pattern paint design. In very good condition. Hooks and props are rust free. Paint has some cracking on the belly and a small area of paint is chipped off between the two belly hooks. Sides and back of lure have no paint damage. South Bend Surf-Oreno" painted on back. But has faded and barely legible. South Bend introduced the Surf-Oreno around 1916. This version is most likely from the 1940s or 50s. these are 2 pier/jetty/surf rods.One is 7' 5.5" heavy one) the other is med/heavy and it is 7' 3" This is my 1st attempt at rod rebuilding and I know they aren't pretty but theyre good! These rods have pulled many a bull red on the sand or rocks all old vintage fiberglass blanks but I cant remember the brands. Seems like one is a kunan and the other an old shakespeare or southbend? The lighter one has a ring insert missing(see last pic) but is no problem if using mono.

VINTAGE Silaflex MAGNUM PT-80 Large Surf/Jetty Spinning Fishing Rod - SEAHORSE
You're bidding on a Nice 2 Piece VINTAGE Silaflex MAGNUM Model PT-80 Large Surf& Jetty Spinning Fishing Rod as shown. I believe it is a Browning Silaflex Rod. But does not say Browning on the rod(could be Vintage before the Browning name was added to the label) It measures 127 inches long(just a little over 10 and 1/2 feet) The handle and reel seat area alone is a whopping 36 inches long. The first set of wraps on the butt section are decorative and have the SEAHORSE emblem and the word Silaflex on it, but some of the lettering is missing. The metal reel seat area is very nice and also has the SEAHORSE emblem and the word Silaflex on it. For the vintage, the rod has a very decent appearance with only minor scrapes and nics as can be seen and is in great shape structurally with 9 very nice line guides and wraps. You can see a little ... moreyellowish color band around the wood part of the handle. This is from a twist tie that was on the handle that was removed and left a little color residue. It is missing the little gasket(o-ring) that sits in the groove on the male ferrule section, so that when inserted it would hold tightly together. The ferrule sections are nice and insert easily, but this o-ring needs to be in place to hold it tightly together. Replace the o-ring and this rod is ready to catch the big ones. I do not know the line rating, but I would describe the rod as medium to medium heavy action with enough play to know you have a fish on, but will still be able to handle the big ones. Please see pics as they are part of the description. What you see and what I have described is what you get. I will start the bidding at $1 dollar with No Reserve! You're bidding on a Nice 2 Piece Custom made Lamiglas Surf Spinning Rod in great shape for mechanics and appearance. Judging from the guides and reel seat and handle. It doesn’t look like it has ever been used in salt water or if it has, you can’t tell it. It was custom made from a prominent rod builder in Santa Cruz, CA and has seven excellent guides and wraps. The finish is great with just a little bit of white specking on the butt section(you will hardly notice) and, as you can see, the original owner did not wish to keep his name on the rod, so the finish has been removed to remove his name(see pictures) This is only cosmetic of course and does not affect the rod in any way. The rod measures 11 feet and 3 inches long when assembled and is ready to catch the big ones. I do not know the line rating, but I would describe the rod as medium ... moreto medium heavy action.
