The oldest Restaurant in Paris 1582” The top of the card reads“Le Numero de votre Canard 95.779/780/781 The Number of your Duck(since 1890) I have seen these postcards before with one duck number. This is unusual in that it has three duck numbers on it. The dinner party who received this card apparently ordered three ducks: the 95.779 th. 95,780 th and 95.781 st ducks served at La Tour D’Argent since 1890. The restaurant still operates at 15 Quai de la Tournelle. Perhaps someone at the restaurant knows what year this might have been… The postcard ... moremeasures 3.5 in. by 5.5 in. The upper left corner is missing. It is not torn. But instead appears to have been intentionally clipped some time in the past. There is otherwise only minor wear on the card’s corners and faint evidence of pencil writing on the back that was erased before I found this card. 6 Guatemala Travel Flyers 1935 Coffee Lake Atitlan Chichicastenango Highlands
This auction is for six different travel/hotel brochures from the 1930s for Guatemala. These came in a group with one that was from a trip in 1935. So I think these were probably from the same 1935 trip. The only one I see a date on is the coffee brochure which is dated 1935. They range in size from the smallest(Cafe de Guatemala- 3-7/8" x 5-3/8" to the largest(El Patio- 4" x 9-1/2" folded) The first is"When We go to Guatemala- Mayan Highlands" which unfolds to 8 panels on each side. It advertises the Mayan Inn and Chichicastenango. The second flyer is on"Lake Atitlan- Hotel Tzanjuyu which unfolds to four panels on each side. It has an ink stamp on the front and back) The third is"El Patio- Guatemala City" which has 3 panels on each side. The fourth one is"Guatemala the Wonderland of the Americas- ... moreClark's Tours" which unfolds to six panels on each side. There are tears/splits on a couple of the folds at the bottom- there is some writing in pencil) The fifth brochure is a 2 panel one for Case Contenta- Lake Atitlan- Guatemala Highlands(It has light dirt on it and a vertical crease through the middle) The sixth pamphlet is"Cafe de Guatemala" which has 16 pages. All the pamphlets are in English, plus the Coffee one is in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German. The pamphlets are in good condition except for the previously mentioned defects- there are some creases.
