Vintage Fishing Equipment Tackle Copper Sand Spike Rare
I picked this up from a older guy that said it was a old copper sand spike that he used for fishing years ago. The spike and the round housing are made of copper and measure 16 1/2" long and the diameter of the housing is 1 1/2" and the spike is 1/2' in diameter by 8 1/2" in length. On the round housing there is a name which is hard to read but this is what I came up with Type M This may be homemade I just do not know. When is the last time you saw a copper sand spike. I have seen quite a few minnow traps but none quite like this one. It is an early 1900's ALGATES COLLAPSIBLE MINNOW TRAP. With a US. Patent Number made by A.J. Algate, Toronto Canada. Box is black with gold lettering. As you can see clearly in the pictures the black has wear on it. Top of box opens and still has insert in the box. It is approx. 17" long x 7" wide by 2" deep.
