Rare Antique Winchester#1335 Brass Fly Fishing Reel. Circa Early 1900's For the fly fisherman who has everything. I am pleased to offer you a rare piece of American fly fishing history. A beautiful antique Winchester#1335 Solid Brass Trout Fly Fishing Reel in extraordinary fine condition! This reel is a true gem and was part of an estate auction of an avid fly fisherman. This reel dates back to the early 1900's and is constructed of a solid brass caged frame. Foot and spool with wood handle. It is in exceptionally fine condition and doesn't appear to have any damage. The pillars are solid. The drag switch is firm and slides back and forth from silent"free spool" to"click" effortlessly. The click sound works in both directions when engaged, but doesn't make the sound continuously on a full revolution of ... morethe spool. From what I can tell it may need cleaned or adjusted because there doesn't appear to be any obvious damage to the cog or clicker. There is no drag brake. The drag would be controlled by the palm of your hand, which is typical of this vintage. This reel is universal and can be used as a left or right hand retrieve. The outer diameter of the reel is approximatley 2-1/2" and the overall width is approximately 1" The reel weighs approximately 4 ounces. This reel would probably be close to a 3/4 WT fly reel by today's standards. Even has what appears to be a vintage fly line although I doubt it's the same age as the reel. Lines in the early 1900's were usually made of horse hair. This line appears to be made of a synthetic fiber, but I'm not certain. This reel is offered in it's natural state as when I bought it. I have not cleaned, lubricated or altered the reel in any way and I'm offering it"as is" and as shown in photos. Hi there! Up for bidding is one of my fathers fishing reels. I'm not sure exactly how old it is. But I believe it's been around for a while! The reason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. 1947 Mepps"CHUT CHUT" Fly reel Up for auction. Is a RARE"CHUT CHUT" Fly reel. This reel is in wonderful shape, specially for 66 years old. I bought this quite a long time back, when I was determined to be the BIG TIME Mepps collector of the west coast. Well, my interests spread, and now I have too many, of too many reels. I always felt, if you are a collector of a manufacturer, you collected everything they made. But you could die wanting, if you included lures with Mepps! But I did get as many reels as I could, loving the spinning reels first! This fly reel was a rare find from a collector in Sweden, mainly because I didn't even know Mepps made anything but the spinning reels. It has been a topic in my group, and a clean and interesting piece in my collection. As you might imagine, this reel is built like all of the ... moreearly Mepps reels, you could use it, on a hill, if your parking brake on your car was broken, and still fish with it when you got home! Charlton Model 8450C Configurable reel with 5/6 spool
This auction is for a used Charlton model 8450C Configurable reel with the 5/6 spool mounted and its original blue case. I am selling this reel for John McDaniel. Author of Fly Fishing the Harriman Ranch of the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. This reel and one other and several extra spools were given to John by Jack Charlton in the 1990's for John to test on the Henry's Fork. As you can see by looking at the photos, John did use the reel quite a bit. The reel is mechanically perfect, but does show cosmetic marring from use as seen in the photos, including a line burn on the cross member of the frame. I am not an expert on these reels as I prefer the more traditional Hardy click reels, so please feel free to ask any specific questions and I will do my best to answer them. Hardback in very good condition with good tight binding. Contains 24 chapters. The inside pages have no rips. Tears or stains and have some brown fading on the page edges. The dust cover is included but is in poor condition as can be seen in the pictures. This vintage book is a good read and is a comprehensive work for any trout fisherman from the expert to the novice. The reader who examined the authors manuscript for the publishers had over 40 years of trout fishing experience and began to read the manuscript with a little prejudice against the authors work with the belief that there was no room for another book on the subject and this book could ... morenot give him anything new on the subject. He ended reading the manuscript that he was very much mistaken and the extent and variety of the authors knowledge of the subject was impressive. O.W.Smith tells of the best methods of using dry-flies, wet-flies, baits and lures. He has included everything the angler needs to know from“togs” for the fisherman to how to cook the trout in the pan. The author was angling editor for“Outdoor Life” magazine and fished for trout in many waters in the United States. Both east and west. He was a keen observer, and a wonderful teacher and guide. Moreover, he was a humorist and a philosopher. This book sold for an“eye popping” $3.00 when it was published in 1917.

here is a fantastic bfp in what i can only say is in the best working order i have ever seen one of these reels. the spindle and cog i think may have been refitted by hardy at some point but this benefits the reel as its like new to use the. check works great. it has its original alloy foot that has the smallest of filling to one end. See pics for this, its really tiny hardly noticeable. it has great patina and no dents or corrosion. this reel is ready for a life time of salmon fishing and will never let you down. you really need to see this reel in the flesh so to speak as its in amazing condition you will not find better. if you are not totally happy with this beauty you will receive a full refund including p+p. i am starting this reel at a price i think is a realistic one Check out my!
