This is a very unusual L.W. Holmes bonefish. Salmon and steelhead reel in near-mint condition, in the original box. Leslie W. Holmes made fly, salmon and a very few baitcasting and deep-sea reels in Oronoque, Conn. a village of Stratford, from after WWII until his death around 1952. These are very well made reels. This one has an on/off click and a drag that you can tighten by turning the knurled center knob. Unusual finish on this reel, too. This one has a spool that's 3 3/8" in diameter and 1" wide. Right-hand wind reel in excellent condition with clearly marked original box, as you can see in the photos. I doubt this reel has ever had a line on it. Fish it or collect it. Fourth edition Hardback. Still one of the best books on actually bonefishing that is available. Great chapters on behavior. Feeding patterns and what bonefish eat. Well written and well explained. This is not the revised edition. Please be aware that this book has been owned by an avid fly tyer and cigar smoker. And the books are stored where the cigars are smoked. So keep that in mind as you bid. My friends who borrow books say that the smell wears off in about a week. And you can read them in comfort at that time. They usually read them in dis-comfort before then. The grading is severe, I would rather you be surprised that the book is higher quality than you expected, than reverse. All are used books- I bought them to use. Not abuse, but to use.

This is a factory built rod that has had some professionally done upgrades. The reel seat and cork have been replaced. The full wells cork is very good quality and has not seen much use. I would say the cork is slightly larger diameter than the original. The reel seat is a very nice uplock model that I would say is better quality that the original seat that came with this rod. Dual dogs, Cork drag washer, Ball bearing, Triple screw reel seat I do not know the line capacity This one has a serial number low enough that it marks it as one of the original Emery reels. These are reels that John Emery had made before his unfortunate death. All of John's reels were silent in both directions. RH retrieve. And I don't believe there's a way to convert it. If you see what appears to be flecks in the photo's. It is simply dust. I have personally shown this reel to one of the people who had a hand in the original design and build of these Emery reels(and was a good friend of John's) They have told me that this reel is the smaller size of the two sizes built. All smaller ... moresize reels were numbered with five digits. And this is definitely#00041. He and I opened the reel up to check its condition, and it was excellent. The drag knob is scuffed up but can be replaced with a drag knob from an old brand of spinning reel that these reels originally were supplied with At the time these original model reels were built I was personally acquainted with John Emery when he was working at J. Lee Cuddy Assoc. A rod builders supply shop) on 79th Street in Miami. Florida and saw the very first models fresh from the makers bench. Up for grabs is a R.L. Winston BIIX 9' 0" 7-weight fly rod. Rod is used. But is in very good condition(i.e. no breaks, gouges, scratches, etc) Handle is stained from use, but will clean up. My name is on the rod. Excellent rod for bass fishing or light saltwater. One of my favorite rods. Has a fast crisp cast but still has that classic Winston feel. See my other items listed.
