Inside are 3 divider trays and a deep well. It has 31 divided compartments of various sizes which can be modified as there are 9 dividers which can be removed to make larger compartments. It has been used and it does have dirty spots that I could not wash out and scuffs and scratches as well. It did clean up pretty good for the photos. Wonderful Vintage Wooden Fishing Tackle Box (Florida Tackle Box)
I have for auction a beautiful vintage wooden tackle box from Florida. It is a true working tackle box and you can tell from the inside that it has carried some tackle. This type of box is often called a Florida tackle box and is made of yellow pine or some other probably native F lorida wood. The wood has a warm golden hew to it and some wonderful patina/discoloration due to age. It is equipped with what appears to be brass hinges. Handle and hasp. These too show some nice soft patina. Has two trays that can be removed from the inside revealing larger storage compartments for reels or other items. Also what I think is really cool is the section of an advertising yard stick screwed into the top inside of the lid that the fisherman would use to check the length of the fish. This is an old piece for the phone numbers for the three locations ... moreare prior to our current 7 digit numbers. For example it lists Miami Shores as 89-2541. Coral Gables as 4-7644 and Hialeah Springs as 88-3444. This is classic Florida folk art! It is a good size box and measure approximately 18&1/2 inches long by 9&1/4 inches wide by 8&3/4 inches tall. Surface rust, discoloration, missing paint, the large unbranded green box has a latch that is slightly loose, there are several bends and dents found in the metal of that box, and the back hinge on the lid is disconnected, the rivets pull out, and the lid does not open correctly on that box. HUGE Fishing Tackle Box LOADED w/ Vintage Lures& Other Items that I picked up at a recent old estate settlement- the box and its contents weigh 30 pounds! I am a novice.
