VINTAGE UMCO TACKLE BOX MODEL 4500UPB
This is a used vintage(king size) UMCO CORPORATION and Division of Plastech at Rush City. MN. U.S.A. Model 4500UPB(possum belly) tackle box. I guess the box is made of the PLASTECH material rather than the normal aluminum. The box is brown in color and the racks of compartments are made of a very light green plastic. There are 96 compartments not counting the full size space at the bottom or the possum belly attached compartment. The possum belly is lined with UMCO foam insulation but it is damaged(foam only) from worm burns on one half of the belly. Interior of box has two racks of compartments(one on each side) and they look identical with the same number/size of compartments(48) on each side. No damage to shelves or box interior or exterior. This is a used vintage UMCO CORPORATION. Made in Watertown, Minn. U.S.A. embossed aluminum tackle box Model 1000A. The rounded top opens in both directions to expose the contents, two racks of compartments 31 on one side and 22 on the other, not counting the full size bottom of the box. This used box still has the original hang tag from the manufacturer. Out of the 53 compartments one has some minor surface worm burns. Another compartment has a rough texture bottom with no idea what could have caused that. There are no dents or any other blemishes. This is a very nice box and looks great. This is an old UMCO tackle box made in Spring Park. Minn. It's 12 by 7 by 4 inches in size. I picked this up at a garage sale with plans to clean it up but just haven't had the time. The box itself is in decent condition. It has 1 small hairline crack in the bottom corner less than 1 inch long. It also needs to be cleaned up because it has a paint splatter and a sticker or 2 that needs to be removed. The tray inside is still in good shape. There might also be a couple of useable lures. Up for bids is a vintage Umco 3 tray aluminum tackle box. Box is 60's. 70's I believe. Very good condition for its age. Only one small dent to the right above the latch( which works) as show in the photo, other wise its just needs a good cleaning. I don't know what best for aluminum, so I will leave cleaning to the new owner. All of the plastic tray inserts have some degree of"worm burn" from mild to severe but are intact. No rust. Just oxidized. This vintage aluminum tackle box has fasteners to clip both lids closed and a thin enough profile to be quite portable. The construction makes the unit rustproof. aluminum and plastic don't rust. There is an end d-ring to secure the box for hiking or backpacking I suppose. This model is rather ingenious and versatile. It measures just under 11" x 5" x 2 1/2" This example is in good shape though I didn't attempt to clean it one bit. I've had bad luck trying to clean aluminum so I figured I'd leave it to the new owner rather than risk discoloring another super cool antique. Almost everything I sell is vintage. This is in use d but i would say good condition. Needs some cleaning. Has a few dings. Interior shel ves are plastic lined and some have worm burn as seen in pictures.
