These are a matched set of 2 antique curtain tiebacks and 2 matching curtain rod ends. The tiebacks are iron with hammered designs where the ornate facing meets the plain back. The rod ends are NOT cast iron- a magnet does not stick. The tiebacks measure 6 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" high. The spacing is 2" deep. These are in wonderful condition- no chips or cracks. The curtain rod ends need to be repainted. Or left as is, for a nice vintage look. They take a FLAT rod. 3/16" wide x 5/8" long. Alternatively, just flatten the ends of a round rod to make it fit. Because of the older style of the glass inkwell I’m assuming the total piece is from the early days of The Avon Copper Smith company– I’m guessing 1930-35. Base 3“ square copper box. With hammered leaf textured walls. Top of walls are curved and slightly curl out. Dimpled feet on the bottom frame the circular“The Avon Copper Smith” logo stamped into the metal. Cap 1¾” square copper cap is textured shaped to mimic an acorn cap. The cap fits nicely over the square contour of the glass inkwell. Four high quality cast iron coat hooks based on an original Edwardian Arts& Crafts/ Art Nouveau design by C.F.A.Voysey and also very similar to a hook design by M H Baillie Scott. Elegant spear bud shaped backplates(maximum width 1.75" Each bearing three countersunk screw holes for fixing and a hook shaft which protrudes upward out from the backplate at an angle of around 45 degrees. The hooks each stand approximately 3.75" tall when fixed and protrude just under 3" from the wall. These are finished castings with any burrs/irregularities rubbed down, with a bare iron finish. There may be some light speckled surface rusting due to the unlacquered, bare-metal nature of these hooks. Can be readily lacquered or overpainted if desired. Ideal for hall stands and coat racks. Rare Antique Arts and Crafts Benson Copper / Brass / Silverplate Sweetmeat Tray
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this rare estate find. It is a heavy copper Sweetmeat Tray from the Arts and Crafts period and made by Benson in England. The only marking is a rectangular BENSON mark on the bottom. The inside and the inside of the lid are silverplate lined. It is about 9 3/4 inches long(13 inches at the handles) This does not have a country of origin marked on it so it is pre 1915 or so. This is used and has a little oxidation. As you can see. The silverplate is all good and undamaged but is tarnished. There are no dents or damage to the piece at all. Many choose to shine up the copper and the silverplate and it can be made to practically glow. However, some buyers object to polishing something of this age so we leave that to you to polish or not. Sits with an attached metal supporting bracket that comes off of the body on the back for stability. The fireplace screen has to be lit from behind to look its best. As with all stained glass. Put this in front of a large window and watch all the light come through! Or place in front of your fireplace when it is not burning, as the heat will adversely affect the metal as well as the stained glass. A long cast iron bar is screwed in along the back for support that is original to its manufacture. The support bracket on the back is also cast iron and it is adjustible. We could not find any marks. This oak armoire is 82" tall. 52" wide and 18.5" deep. It has two doors which measures 59.5" x 23.5" There are two drawers on the bottom which measure 6 3/8" x 16" each. The molding at the top would blend nicely with arts and crafts design. There are two splits on the back side of the left door on the back board. This does not in any way affect stability. The right door has some chewiness at the corner on the inside only probably from wear. There are two plastic over metal shelves currently installed. Up for no reserve auction is a set of 3 Antique slag glass panel lamp shades. The round shade has no cracked panels. It is approximately 9.5" tall. 8" diameter at the top and 3.25" at the bottom fitter. The square overlay shade with flowers has 4 panels which are all in good condition. It looks like 2 were replaced at some time. It measures 7" tall, 6" across the top and 5.25" across the bottom. The tall square shade is guaranteed to be Bradley& Hubbard. It is signed on one of the bottom clips holding the glass"Pat'd Oct 20 08" It has 4 amber panels and 4 green panels. My guess is that the glass was replaced in this. Also, as you can see in the last picture, there is some damage to the filigree. I posted nice, large pictures of all the shades.
