Up for auction is the great South Bend model 59-9 bamboo fly rod with the base. Center and two top sections/tips. The rods are all in very good condition with no problems to the guides, tips or wraps. It appears that it has not been used or barely used and put away years ago. The cork section looks almost new, and appears to have no missing chunks. It still has the original foil label and looks good. Everything appears to be original with no repairs. I have attempted to describe this rod set to the best of my abilities and knowledge, but please look at the pictures to make your own judgement of condition. AT AUCTION. NO RESERVE: This is a one-of-a-kind E. C. Powell hand-built split bamboo fly rod in almost-new condition. This would be the crown jewel in any collection. First, the basic description, according to the owner: This fly rod was built around 1945 by E. C. Powell for my great uncle, Joe McMullen, who fished with Mr. Powell. I can guarantee that it was built by Mr. Powell himself. As a kid, I fished with"Uncle Joe" and E. C. Powell's son, Clyde Powell, at the Sizemore Ranch near Meeker, Colorado. Uncle Joe left this rod to me, and it's been put away since then. The rod itself is a model B-9, 9 1/2 footer and would have been used primarily for steelhead, Patent Number 9132986. The kit is complete and includes three tips-another distinguishing feature of this particular rod-and the original cloth bag, and the original ... morealuminum case. I have been in contact with the E. C. Powell Fly Fishers Club regarding this particular rod, and my asking price is based on research and correspondence with the Club. Two of the tips are 47 1/2 inches long; the third is 57 1/2 inches long. The two 47 1/2 inch tips are of two different thicknesses. Engraved in the bottom of the reel seat is 4 1/2. Perhaps the line weight used by Mr. McMullen. A rod like this does not come up for sale very often. In any condition. This rod is pristine. There are no nicks or marks on the reel seat, the cork handle looks new, the wraps are all tight and solid, the varnish is clear and smooth, and all the parts you could ask for are there. An additional note on my feedback rating: I just noticed that my feedback approval rating is at 0 percent. Please note that this rating is the result of the fact that I did not trade on ebBay for a year. And the feedback rating only reflects the past year's transactions. So I don't have a need for this anymore cause I don't have time to go to the river. This would make an excellent present for anyone already into spey fishing or for a beginner. All you need it some 0x tippet and you are good to go! Included are: Redington CPX 7wt 12' 9" 4 piece spey rod. This is an amazing all around steelhead rod. It works great for both winter and summer run fish. I like the fast action. This rod can really launch bugs out there. Allen Alpha II size 4 fly reel. I have around 250 yds of orange backing on here. Also have RIO.035 blue running line. Even with the shooting heads. The reel has room left. The drag is awesome too. It has a wide range and can stop any fish you can think of. AIRFLO Skagit comp and Scandi short shooting heads. The Skagit is 510 grns and the Scandi is 420 grns. I love both of these ... morefly lines. They work well in hot and hold temperatures. Ask anyone, these are the most popular and well made shooting heads out there. I also clean them after each use. RIO versi leader wallet with tips. This is the 7wt package and includes everything from floating. Intermediate, to 7 ips fast sinking. I can vouch for it because I have caught quite a few fish with it. 40 swinging flies. Orvis "All Rounder" Fly Rod--8' 3", 2 piece, 2 1/2 oz, light 7 wt. with 2 tips
This is an Orvis"All-Rounder" 8' 3" 2 1/2 oz. 2 pc. fly rod. Rated 7 wt. by Orvis, at 2 1/2 oz. this is the same weight as an 8 1/2 ft. 5 wt. Henry's Fork" or an 8 ft. 6 wt. Trout" model, which often weighs in at 2 1/2 oz. Go figure. It is a medium action with a strong back half and softer towards the tip, probably why they rated it for 7 line, because of the strong back half. It is a light 7 wt. and fishes well with a floating or sinking 6, which were the lnes I liked best on it and a DT 5 floating works real well too. This one's in good shape, see the pictures. 2 tips here, the main tip that is original to the rod and a"spare" tip that is 4 inches short, that came off another"All-Rounder" I broke and had repaired by Orvis, so you will have two rods here really. The wraps are all virtually ... moreidentical, a dark burgundy/cordovan color. The tip that's 4 inches short fishes of course a touch faster and heavier, more a true 7 wt. and real suitable for bass bugs or big terrestrials. With this tip on, it's a 7' 11" rod. So there's an original, un-messed with 8' 3" rod, plus a spare tip that's 4 inches short from another"All Rounder. Tube and sock too.

Vintage 1910 FE Thomas, Bangor, Me. Dirigo Bamboo Trout Fly Rod, Two tips, 9 1/2
Search This is a vintage Thomas fly rod. Made in bangor maine. This rod has two tips, each with a different style end on it, Im guessing its a wet fly and dry fly tip but not sure. All four pieces are straight and true with no bends. One tip is about 5/16 of an inch shorter than the other but one of the metal tips is 3/16 of an inch longer than the other, being a different style, so that accounts for part of the difference in length-the tips appear to have never been broken or repaired. Butt section is 38 8/16 long, center section is 38 8/16 long, one tip is 38 7/16 and the other is 38 2/16 long. The rod appears to be complete and is marked Dirigo FE Thomas Bangor Me on the reel seat. Reel seat appears to be nickle plated and has what I think is called a rolled soldered slide bar. I did some research but correct me if Im mistaken about names/details ... moreof this item. I was told and believe that the finish on the rod is the original varnish. The butt section and center section need to have the line guides rewrapped as they have been attached in a very sloppy manner, as shown in the pics. The two tips look to be in great shape however with all the guides securely attached. The rod measures 114 1/2 inches( 9 1/2 feet) when assembled but I did not really"jam" the sections together for fear of not being able to get them apart again. I believe the cork grip is referred to as sheet wrapped. Two tips come in a round bamboo storage case with a screw on cap. Bamboo case fits into the original canvas rod sack along with the butt and center sections. Canvas case is marked with the name LAWRENCE, I assume the original owner but dont know. This is a great rod but does need some repair work. I am not an expert on fly rods and got most of the info off the internet so please ask questions if you have any. Nat Uslan Custom 7 1/2' 5/6 wt Bamboo Fly Rod w/ 2 tips EX NR *penta*
This auction is for a Nat Uslan custom built bamboo fly rod in excellent condition. This two piece. Two tip, five-strip split cane rod is 7 ft 6 inches long and rated for a 6wt line. It is an unusual Uslan that according to the previous owner was custom built for Jim Shaaf when he came to fish in Florida and visited Uslan. There is unfortunately nothing included with the rod to authenticate this clai m. However the rod is exceptionally finished and one of the nicest Uslan rods I have seen- possibly from a kit or a professionally restored original. Uslan's 7 1/2 ft fly rod model was apparently inked 120 back in the 40's- then it became the 7550 and finally the 7613 later in the 50's(as it is 7 ft 6 inches long and apparently uses a size 13 ferrule) Definitely a Florida era rod from the label used on the tube as this was part of ... morethe cover of his rod catalogs with the later Florida address. Wraps are Burgundy tipped gold w/ brown in the signature wraps and base of ferrules. Cork handle is in very good to excellent condition showing slight use- with an unusual wood front piece or grip check with matching wood spacer in the up-locking reel seat. Rod is inked Custom Uslan on one flat above the handle and 7 1/2' 120 7613#6 on the other side. A very powerful rod for the weight at 4.125 oz's on my digital scale. A very smooth casting rod- handled a DT5 beautifully and shoots line well- might like WF6 best but didn't have to try. Rod comes with sock and tube- believed to be original. This is for a Bristol Edwards bamboo fly rod. In very good condition. It is 8-1/2' 3 piece. two tips. All sections are full length and straight. It has the Bristol Built decal on the rod. It is 100% On the rod in cream colored writing is says. Edwards- Bristol. FB7- 8-1/2' The reel seat is good. The cap has some wear. The cork is good. Has a few very small chunks out. It needs some cleaning. The wraps are excellent and the guides are very good. The striping guide is an agate type guide. Ferrules are good. And the finish is very good. Quality Leonard Vintage Fly Fishing Bamboo Rod Rare 8 1/2Ft 3 piece rod.The rod assembled using three pieces weighs 4.5 ounces.I do not see a line weight designation but think it is a 4wt or heaviest a 5wt. The case is the original(heavy brass butt cap and screw top)comes with the cloth bag.There are five sections of rod.2 Tips,2 mid sections,one butt. not sure why it has 2 mid sections,slightly different but same hardware)One mid section is 3 inches shorter(pretty sure not broke,I think that it is to accommodate more than one line weight.The tips are full length and appear to be nice and straight, the whole rod is straight with no sets or warps.The rod appears to be in very good condition as shown and ready to fish if you like.There is an agate guide on the butt section. The finish looks nice with nice original ... morehardware.one mid section bottom ferrule has light damage,looks easy to fix without replacing. All ferrules match. All snake guides match.The patent date is on the butt section ferrule( Sept. 3 1878 Oct 26 7. This is certainly a prewar Leonard, likely from the late 20's or 1930's. Vintage "Unknown" Bamboo Fly Rod. Ten Foot. Two Tips Included.
Unknown Maker Split Bamboo Fly Rod. Two Tips are included. This is a very old rod. Note the guides. They consist of loops made of carbaloy. They look like old hook keepers. It appears that this rod was in the process of being reconditioned. not by me) i. e. the bottom part has interim wraps and the other sections do not. And there is no varnish on the rod. I believe the handle probably had a layer of cord or cork over it at one time. The only marking on the rod is"patent applied for" on the reel seat. The contraption it sits in when stored is made out of wood and has remnants of cloth on it in the grooves that the rod pieces fit in. I have had it for years but I do not like to recondition fly rods any more! Please rely on photos for condition!

This is for a Montaque Bamboo fly rod in very good to excellent condition. It is three piece. Two tips. Al;l sections are full length and straight. The decal is about 70% there. You can see it is labeled Rapidan. You can see the first letter and the last letter. The original tube has the label on it stating Rapidan. Also has original bag in very good condition. Tube is miss cap. The reel seat is very good. It was blackened but some is worn off. The cork is very good. no chunks out. Ther wraps are dark brown and very good. The ferrules are very good with some of the blackening worn off. The guides are very good anf the finish is very good. It has a hook keeper. I think most would call this excellent condition. The ferrules and wrappings are in good condition. It comes with a green rod bag in an aluminum case. The case cap is labeled A.A.W.Co. with Peerless shield. On Jan-21-13 at 19:48:30 PST. Seller added the following information: the actual rod weight is 3 7/8 oz. with the butt and 1 tip(either one) not the 4 1/2 oz as orig. stated also there is a minor color variation between the tips. Here's a Vintage Hardy Bros. Split Bamboo Fly fishing Rod that's in SUPERB Condition with really NO issues or flaws to mention! Comes in the Olive colored cloth case that comes in the Aluminum Tube. The Cloth Case is missing the flap with the Makers Name. Don't know what happened to that? I guess that is an issues, other than that there's No issues to mention! This Rod is in Superb Condition! I don't know if its been refinished or not, it Sure Looks Pretty! I believe this is the"Palakona" model, it's hard to make out the writing on the rod. Photo's 3-6 show the writing. Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Welcome To My Auction The item up for bid is one(1) vintage Goodwin Granger'Granger Premier' 8 1/2' model# GP 8642 split bamboo fly rod. A rather scarce Granger rod as the premier grade made up only 2.2% of the the rods produced by Granger. This rod is in very good condition all 4 pieces measure 34 1/2" in length all 4 pieces lay out straight. The handle other than some soiling and some what I would guess are hook marks on the reel end is in great condition. The reel seat adjustment works as it should there are some dings to the seat as pictured. All windings are tight and line guides are all in excellent condition. The rod is missing one line guide which is the first in line in the mid section but oddly enough the winding remains undamaged as pictured. There is some residue on one of the ... moretip sections between the last line guide and the terminal end. I've looked at this section under heavy magnification and failed to see a crack or split in the cane but the residue is opaque and hence I could not see under it and I have made no attempt to remove it. I have included three close ups of this area so you may make your own appraisal. The rod sack included is in excellent undamaged condition.This rod truly represents a wonderful slice of American fishing history. Goodwin Granger Co. Victory Bamboo Rod 9 foot 3 piece 2 tips (Needs Refinishing)
NO RESERVE AUCTION Goodwin Granger Victory. 9 foot 3 piece with 2 tips. All pieces equal length. This rod needs some help to really be fished again. Everything is present, including the sock and cardboard rod tube. The ferrules pop and are tight. No clicking. The eyes on the mid section are a bit loose but presently in tact. In my opinion this rod should be taken down to bare bamboo, re-wrapped, and varnished. The metal up locking reel seat works well and aside from a couple pieces of cork missing at the end the cork handle it is in good used condition. This rod has been refinished and re-wrapped in the distant past as you will notice the original Jasper and black wraps on the base are not the same as around the eyelets. This rod has great bones and could be fantastic with a little work. The tips are a slightly darker color and one tip does ... morenot have the proper ferrule. Therefore, since I am not the original owner I am led to believe two new tips have been made for this rod when the rewrapping occurred. All pieces have the same wrappings and they remind me of an Orvis wrap. The tips are very well done and do not need any work, all wraps are tight and look to have never been fished. I am an honest seller. And my goal is to put these rods and reels back on the rivers and streams to be used rather than collect dust. I try to find good quality product and take high quality photos to let the buyer know what they are getting. I also try as best I can to let you know everything I know about the rod. Orvis Impregnated Deluxe 7' 2 pc. 2 tips Bamboo fly rod
Early 1960's rod. The"Deluxe" model. Impregnated 7' HDH line specified, casts a DT4 or WF5 with accuracy and authority. Two matching tips, ferrules still nice and tight, produce that lovely"pop" when disassembled. Was recently re-handled by famous rod builder Marc Aroner, as the original cork and rings were deteriorating. Cap and ring are custom turned and blued nickel silver. Only other change he made was to use a slightly larger stripper guide more suitable to modern lines. Ferrules and tips are completely original and straight, bag and case are original. This rod is a delight to cast and fights fish with authority.

All of the guides are in excellent shape, with the exception of one that is 1st from the end on the spare tip. It comes with the canvas bag and an aluminum storage tube. Unfortunately the label on the tube is missing and I am not sure if it is original. The year it was made was in 1938, and it was made in Denver Colorado. The model is 2.114.10. Each segment is approx 38.5 inches long. All inserts are in great shape, and there are no splits or cracks in any of the segments. The varnish is in excellent shape as well. The reel seat has the Heddon's Dowagiac imprint with the Dec. 1. 1908 patent for the locking band reel seat. It appears to be made of Calcutta cane(there are dark burn marks) The butt grip is made of 1/8" stacked cork rings, and the fore grip has 1/2 inch cork rings. Note the red agate guides. This is a 5 foot rod with original full length staggered butt and tip sections. The many intermediate wraps are in place. Undoubtedly preserved by several old overcoats of varnish. This is an absolutely beautiful vintage Orvis Battenkill bamboo fly rod serial# 8700. The rod is an 8 1/2 feet two piece with an extra tip. It is 5 1/2 oz and uses a# 8 line. The rod is in perfect condition. I have fished this rod several times and it will really get the line out. Comes with original bag and tube. I do not need this big of a rod now as I am fishing the smaller streams of Colorado and Iowa. This rod is meant for a big river and thus a big fish. This is one of those rods that excites you just pulling it out of the tube and bag and smelling the cane. Vintage Wright McGill Granger Special Bamboo Fly Rod 9' 3 piece 2 tips 9050 NR
NO RESERVE AUCTION with Buy it Now Wright McGill Granger Special 9 foot 3 piece with 2 tips. All pieces equal length. This rod is in fantastic near mint condition. I have fished this rod and it is a 6 to 7 weight rod. I hate to sell it. But I have too many. I recently had the ferrules on the mid section re-glued and professionally re-wrapped. He did a great job matching up the thread and varnish. You can tell there is a slight gloss over the new wraps, but that can be dulled with a little steel wool if you like. Look at the pictures of the ferrules and see if you can tell. Otherwise, this rod is ready to fish everything is tight and like new in original condition. I hated to have the ferrules reglued because we had to cut the original wraps, but I wanted this rod to be fished, and i wanted to fish it. The tube has a dent in it and some scuffs ... morebut really a nice little aluminum tube. This is the real deal. If you want a nice collectable Granger that you can fish and not have to do anything to, this is the rod. Reel and fish not included in the one picture above. I am an honest seller. And my goal is to put these rods and reels back on the rivers and streams to be used rather than collect dust. I try to find good quality product and take high quality photos to let the buyer know what they are getting. I also try as best I can to let you know everything I know about the rod. Jay Harvey Jackson 8'5" #7 1/4 Dry Rod with case, sock, and two tips
This rod was manufactured after WWII. As noted by the gold binding string on the eyelets. The pole is 8"6" long, and has two tip ends included. One was damaged slightly and has been professionally repaired. The rod appears to be bamboo with a cork handle grip. The retainers for the reel are still in place and functional. Vintage Ebisu Japanese Bamboo Rod 1950's 8.5'' 3 Tips Flies Original Wooden Box
Up for Auction is an amazing estate find. A beautiful 1950's vintage Ebisu Japanese bamboo fishing rod in its original wooden box. Comes with 3 tips and also includes some vintage flies. US Customs Stamp has a date that looks like 1951. I did not put it together. Because I have no experience with bamboo fly rods, but it looks as if the three sections would total about 8 1/2 feet when assembled. This beauty is in gorgeous shape. Just look at the details in the photos. This is a very well-cared-for example of this classic rod. Just waiting for another good home. Made by Ebisu. Japan. I am not an expert in fishing gear. Vintage unmarked 3 piece bamboo fly rod 8.5 feet with two tips
This is a v intage unmarked bamboo fly rod 8 1/2 feet. The Full Wells cork is 6 inches and in great shape. The butt sect ion is missing the striping guide and hook hanger. The mid section is missing two snake guides. The two tips are in nearly perfect condition- VERY straight. The down lock reel seat is very well made. Nice and tight- works well. The ferrules are in good condition. This rod will obviously need a little attention. But is in overall good condition. Vintage Blue Cardboard Fly Rod Tube with 4 Cast Rod Tips Parts or Repair
This sale is for one 40" long blue vintage unmarked cardboard rod tube with screw cap. The tube is intact and strong. Has minor peeling of surface colored paper, no holes or bends. There are 2 tiny really insignificant dents near ends and cap has minor corrosion. Inside are four rod tips from various rods. Unknown makers. May be useful for parts. 2 Pole Tips are missing their tip guides and may have broken guides but also have good guides. 2 Pole Tips are intact with good eyes with guide sleeves of white material. May be glass. Yellow tip is 40" long and green tip is 30" long. Green one also has a black metal connector cap. 5 sleeved guides and 2 sleeved tips are on thes good rod tips. The yellow broken tip has a silver metal connector cap. The little brown tip isn't broken just missing tip and connector cap and guide needs ... morering soldered to it. Fly Rod bamboo reproduction of H.Leonard Catskill taper 7'6" tail 4-5 with 1 tips(no rod bag and no tube) This is one of my reproduction. I try to make more similar as possible to the original. This is not as the original but. Doing a teper very precise, the sensation is similar. It was build in 16 June 2009 Ferrules. Reel and strip agate belong at the brand"REC components" The barrel has a rapid action of the tip. It is one of the most beautiful rod that Leonard made. It has been used only a few times as you can see from the photos. I have a lot of rods and occasionally i sell someone. It is a gret satisfaction to know that my construiction travels in the world. Bamboo Tenkara fly rod - Vintage 5 piece 220 cm w/ 2 tips - 3 day auction
Vintage Bamboo Tenkara fly rod- 5 piece. 220 cm(7' 3" with 2 tips, ferrule plugs and bag. Very good condition. Japanese Tenkara or Korean whip style fixed-line rod. Beautifully constructed with a pecan base lacquer finish. Bamboo segments(approx. 20" ea. are straight and true including each of the very fine black lacquered bamboo tip sections with green braided lillians. In terms of modern Tenkara or Keiryu rod ratings I would estimate this as having a flex characteristic of 7:3. Super light in the hand and not tip heavy. I detect a faint click in one of the bamboo ferrules when seated- it is sound and secure, just a little wiggle but I wanted to point this out nevertheless because it is not perfect. Antique 3/2 Phillipson "Pacemaker" Split Bamboo Fly Rod 8 foot Two Tips
All right guys I'll try to get this as best I can because I know you all know much more about these things than I currently do or ever will. Found at a local estate sale last week. The old guy said that it belonged to his father-in-law and this guy was at least 70 so. Anyway this rod measures 8 ft. not including the handle. don't know if you just measure rod or total length) Did some research and it is I believe what you guys call a 3/2 as it is a 3 piece rod with an extra tip. Please note that the tips are not the same length and have very slight difference between the two. There is almsot exactly a 1 1/2 difference between the length. The shorter one has dark red tying at the tip and at the base of it. The inner ties are(and these are around the ferrules) look to be yellow/green or gold/green as best I can tell guys as I am severely ... morecolor blind. Had the wife look and she says gold/green or yellow/green. Hopefully you will be able to see it in the pictures well. If not I'll upload more close ups. It has the hammer grip which from what I undestand is a plus also. There really is no condition issue to the rod at all. It has been cared for loved and fished for a long time. You will find the occasional nic I'm sure if you go over it with 10x loupe but overall it is a beautiful antique split bamboo rod. I doubt the wrap is original but in excellent condition and the tube is also in great condition. Don't know if it is original either but may be from what I understand WWII era tubes were of cardboard. Tin sealed bottom and screw on cap. None of the ferrules are bent or damaged and their is no fraying of any of tying anywhere. All original hasn't been tampered with. Prolly hasnt seen the light of day in many years also. I know some these worth alot some not as much so putting it out there at 750.00. If it a steal at this price it'll go quick so don't dilly dally.
