H.L. Leonard Duracane 7' 4wt Green Wrap Bamboo Fly Rod
For your consideration is a H.L. Leonard. Duracane 7' 4wt. 2/1. 1841 This is the early Duracane that is known as a"Green Wrap. Original tube and sock with stiffener. Label is missing on tube. Duracanes were made with one tip(Some were special ordered to have two tips) Excellent Condition. Medium flamed cane. Black snake guides, nickel silver reel seat hardware with sliding band, butternut wood spacer and green wraps. Slight impression in the cork at the top of the handle where a thumb might rest. See photo. Otherwise, in Excellent condition. This rod is an absolute cannon. Light in your hand but can throw 60' as easily as 20' and every bit as accurate. IMHO. The proper 3wt and 4wt both load this rod. I have two of these and this one is slightly lighter in the hand- my other is a true 4wt. This auction is for the rod on the LEFT in the picture which is about 77 inches long with 4 guides and a roller tip. Both rods were wrapped by the same local guy about 15 years ago to look like a Penn Senator rod. Please note this is NOT a Penn Senator. It just looks like one. This rod does have a gimble on the end of the wooden butt. It does show a little bit of wear and light corrosion on the guides, but no major damage. It appears as though the epoxy has some air bubbles in it that never escaped when it was finished, this is only a cosmetic flaw and does not affect the function of the rod. Model number is: CSS-76L-2A. 6-12lb line. 1/4-1/2oz lure, light power, extra fast action, Fuji Concept guides and Fuji reel seat. This would make a great rod for drop shotting! This is the older version with the green thread wraps. And you can see the underlying spiral graphite wrap. This version is the best of the Clarus rods, the newer ones just don't feel as refined. Vintage Shakespeare Diamond Wrap 9.6 Bamboo Fly Rod Salmon
I have listed here for auction this very fine vintage Shakespeare bamboo 9 and a half foot fly rod. A diamond wrap, Salmon. The rod looks to be in great condition but has been used. The sections all measure 38 inches and has two identical end sections. Those two smaller end sections come in a small bag of their own and also a small aluminum tube which fits in the larger bag and all fits into a larger tube- see picture. All are in great condition. The end caps fit nicely and the larger cap has a rubber ring to seal out the moisture. I do fish, but I'm not a fly fisherman, so I can't give you any specifics, look at the pictures and hopefully you can see the condition of the rod. Model 665-50-S T.C.R. Takes 20-50 lb line. Rod measures about 6'8" with the metal gimble fork, but is a 6'6" blank. Overall in very nice shape, has some light scuffing mainly towards the bottom right above the handle as shown in last photo. There are 9 guides(including tip) and all still tightly wrapped. The maker on this one used triple wrapping so these aren't going anywhere. All are free of any rust or pitting except for a very tiny amount on the tip I was able to clean up. Also there is a name written right above the blank information, using same font and technique so its not out of place at all. This rod is absolutely incredible! The pictures don't do it justice because you have to see this beauty in person and hold it to really experience it. I've some across lots of rods in my career but this one is really special! The thread art is flawless and the color scheme is so nice. It is 10'1" to be exact and is a 2-piece rod w/ stainless guides. Cork grips& a polished reel seat. The rod is in outstanding condition for its age and doesn't have any real wear aside from a half-dollar sized piece of cork missing on the bottom of the handle.
