Rod shows little use overall. Has a couple minor rash marks on reverse side of guides as shown in last photo, nothing that would be considered significant. Roller guides all tightly wrapped and clean, bottom one has a scuff from being set down or in storage. Only real issue with this rod is that the top foam grip is flattened and has no cushion left. Needs to be replaced or covered with grip cover/tape. The roller guides had all been re-wrapped in red with matching yellow& black accents. Plus a new fore grip wrap& clear coat was done, so this robust billfish Rod is ready-to-go when you are. Built down in Florida by a local Custom Rod Builder(name is on the tag above diamond wrap. CUSTOM MADE DEEP SEA BIG GAME FISHING ROD 5' 7" AFTCO SEAT AND BUTT
This auction is for a custom made deep sea fishing rod measuring 5' 7" in length. The rod was built using an aftco reel seat. Fiberglass rod, and 7 glass eyes. The rod is used and it has some scuffs and scrapes and a little pitting under where the reel sits on the seat. There is a small piece of foam chipped of on the upper grip at the very bottom of it just above the reel seat. The diameter of the rod at the top of the butt is 3/4" at the top of the rod it's 3/8" The wrapping are tight and the rod is ready to fish. This would make a great rod for that lonely reel you have sitting around it's short and powerful just right for jigging or trolling.

The slim tapered tip slices through the water faster and with greater accuracy to minimize the risks and confusion of gaffing a powerful fish. The shaft is 6 ft. long with 1 3/8" butt diameter. The rod: Custom Magnuflex T-535M-BTH 6/0 50 pound class blank thru handle rod with aluminum butt. Gimbal end and Aftco roller guides. The rod has a wooden handle over the aluminum butt which has some numbers pressed into the wood with a ball point pen(see photo) and there are a few scuffs on the wood. The roller tip has a slight bend in the external housing(see photo) which does not affect functionality. These are two custom rods built by Lon Wanser. Seaford, NY. You will find quite a bit of information on him. He had a shop in Seaford, NY and he had a great reputation for his rod building. As you can see by the detail, both rods are 79" overall length. They have Aftco butts which are removable and Aftco rollers. All the rollers, roll. There is some green tarnish on the guides and some near the butt nut that secures the butt to the rod. A couple of very nice rods that just need a little tlc. Vintage AFTCO Adjustable power handle for PENN jigmaster 500 and others with same size main shaft. Basically. Anything that a stock penn 500 star-drag and handle will fit, this will also fit. Super high-quality and heavy duty like everything that AFTCO used to make. Chrome is really good with only a few pits. Adjustment screw works smoothly and solidly. Not sure about what exactly the advantage would be to having this handle but it is a cool and rare item. As far as I can tell, the adjustment screw sets limits on how far the star drag will turn. Big Game Custom Trolling Rod Aftco Butt and Tip Top With Fuji Guides
Up for auction is a custom Big game Trolling rod that was given to me with a Fin-Nor Reel. I decided to sell both as I am not using it. The rod has a Aftco Butt and a Aftco tip that swings from one side to the other. I have seen this on bigger wire line rods but this rod had a Fin-Nor with Mono. There are 5 Fuji guides not including the tip. Total measurement on the rod is 84" The rod has a custom wrap in Blue and Red and a foam foregrip.
