The Reel was owned by Fred L. Wehran for the Yacht Porpoise and has his name engraved on the face plate. Mr. Wehran was a friend of Ted Williams who could have also used the combo. The reel is mechanically smooth and tight. Visually the reel is in very nice used condition as can be seen in the photos(very minor surface wear) The Custom Rod has the name Lions Whelp on it- I was told he was a Miami custom rod builder. The rod is 7 ft overall length with roller guides and roller tip. The rod is very nice also. This is the reel conceived by Loomis& Rajeff back in the day(circa early 2000) to mate with their industry leading GLX fly rods. it's a beautiful series of fly reels! If you were to take an Abel reel and blend them with a Bauer reel. I think the result would be the Syncrotech series.
