The rod shows signs of wear from normal use. And typical of a used saltwater pole it has some surface corrosion and chrome finish loss on some of the metal eyes. I noticed there are hairline cracks in the finish where a few of the eyes are mounted. All of the eyes are solid and and do not move and the tiny cracks are a common occurrence, but I try to point out every single detail. The gentleman who gave me this rod sveral years back stated it was rated for 4-12oz easy and could go higher too. It is a very heavy heavy surf rod. This is a vintage Hurricane IGFA 30U Big Game Rod. It is used and in good condition. It is rated for 30 LB test. 6'10" in length, AFTCO Aluminum UniButt, 5 AFTCO Roller Guides, and a Stuart Roller Top. It has a foregrip that looks like the same type of wrap a tennis racket has. The guides all line up nice and straight, the detachable aluminum AFTCO Rod butt comes apart easily, and the flexcoat doesn't look too bad. There is wear throughout from vintage age and use, saltwater rash on the guides, and some scratches and dings on the unibutt. I have described this rod to the best of my ability. Then yours is definitely pre-1950 and many collectors only bid on pre-1950 penn reels, so if it is pre-1950 with no part numbers, then it would be advantageous to add that info right ... morein the title as the bigger penns(14/0& 16/0) from that early era are few and far between.
