The rod is in great condition with clean foam grips that are in perfect condition, all the rollers on the roller guides rotate smoothly, and clean shiny flexcoat. The model numbers and rod ratings are faded next to Ocean Master. You can make it out with a flashlight shining on it. There is some rash on the guides and some wear. This little beauty measures 6’ 3” I believe this rod to be from the 1940’s- 1950’s. All rod wraps and the bamboo are tight. With no apparent damage or issues. It has a slight set. I have fished this rod using a vintage 2/0 vomHoff. I caught an approx. 12lb yellowtail. WOW! All I can say is that it is a lot more work fishing with vintage tackle as opposed to the more modern tackle, but fun! The reel seat reads“Loc- Tite- Aero Industrial Company, No. Hollywood, Calf. Pat. Pend. Butt is a bit loose and should be re-glued. There is a BAC brand in the bamboo. I’m not sure if this stands for Balboa Angling Club or someone’s initials. THE BAC PATCH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE. All in all this is a very nice rod that could be fished in a vintage fishing tackle tournament or collected. Rod Mount and two Braces. It is in Very Good Plus to Excellent Shape, leaning toward the excellent side in quality and certainly a collector quality piece. The spool has some lite line burn on the arbor portion of it, the sidewalls of the spool look great, it if you zoom in you can see this, but it is still in very good shape with excellent sidewalls and looks quite nice. The seat and clamp have some slight wear as well and still both in very good shape. The crank, star and lever are in excellent shape. All four rings and the posts are in excellent shape and the rod braces look great. The plates on the reel look great and are also in excellent shape. Also bearings ... moreand lugs are in very nice shape as well. By the look of it the reel was used once and put away. A quite nice looking reel in all pretty close to excellent shape with some lite wear to the spool and seat. The box does have wear from age and handling. The super-sized and zoom-able photos show the reel for you close inspection. This Senator 118 16/0 is in great working shape and ready to fish if so desired. C ranks well with excellent meshing gears and a nice solid anti-reverse. Drag works nicely with a good full range. All strong and smooth and also has a well working clutch. Item for sale is Rod B(one of two) a 50lb class bent-butt trolling rod made by Melton International Tackle. It has Aftco fittings. Big-Foot rollers and a Uni-Butt. These are very good rods and this model is used extensively throughout the world by professional crews. This particular rod has been little used and is in excellent condition with what are basically some cosmetic marks and small scratches. The reel seat and gimbal on the UniButt are in excellent condition also. This rod is a'heavy' 50lb class rod and can do double duty as an 80lb outfit if needed. It is 66" from tip to middle of reel seat.
