This is a 1990. Custom Wrapped CALSTAR 196-7 Saltwater FISHING ROD. It is in NICE condition. It is a one piece rod. And measures 7 feet long, and is rated for 10-25 pound test line. It was custom wrapped at"Cody's Rod Shop" in Malibu, back in July of 1990. It has 10 Metal Line Guides. All the Guides and Wraps are still in Fairly Good shape. It has Upper and Lower Foam Grips, with a Fuji FPS-D22 Reel Seat. It Does have some minor scratches here and there from use, but nothing bad.and a few left over"chove" scales on the grip. Classic Garcia Conolon 8 1/2' Royal Javelin Custom Fiberglass Fly Rod 2/1
The color of the wraps on this rod indicate that it was made by Garcia after the Conolon acquisition circa 1961-63. This rod is very good plus. The only flaw I can find is a break in the overwrap on the female ferrule-see pictures. This is an 8 1/2 foot 7-8 weight bass taper. These were custom built fiberglass rods with an unusual staggered ferrule configuration. The reel seat has a black plastic spacer and gold anodized aluminum fdittings. It is interesting that I can find no mention of Garcia or Conolon on this rod. It has the Royal Javelin decal and"Genuine Carballoy Tip-top" in black script. Another great rod for the fiberglass collector.

Up for auction is a vintage Fenwick Ferulite 6pc. 6'6" spinning rod. I recognize the blank. But it looks like the Fenwick decal flaked away over time. There is a tiny black pc. of it left on the second section. The reel seat also has a small scratch on it from someonens rough footed reel. The rest of the rod looks perfect. I am not sure if this was a custom build, or not. It is pretty tough to find info on it. If it is a custom build, I would say they knew what they were doing. The craftmenship is outstanding. If I had to guess, I would say this rod was a Light. Probably had a 3-6# or 4-8# rating on it. The sections match perfectly, and there is no shortened section or signs of repair. Up for auction please consider my offering of a TYCOON TACKLE model H.R.H custom built saltwater fishing rod. I am not sure of this particular rods age. But this rod can be found in the Tycoon Tackle 1938 catalog, and I have included a screen shot of that particular page, wherein the construction of this is described in much better fashion than I can. This rod sold for 75 dollars in 1938, which by todays standards would be over $1299. So, it's no surprise to learn that the world famous fishing gear made by Tycoon Tackle was the pride and joy of folks like Ernest Hemingway, presidents, and royalty. Tycoon Tackle is still in business and has an interesting website including some history about their gear. The rod is 81 inches long. The trademark decal is 90% intact, all guide stands are securely in place, but unfortunately two of the guide ... morerings are gone from their stands. I tried to take an overall photo, and several detailed photos starting from the rod tip working my way down to the notched butt which I believe is meant to be inserted in a worn harness for deep sea fishing.
