Fully functional. Comes from a Captain whom works on a private yacht so it is used. But definitely not abused. I am not sure if this is a 12/0 or 14/0 because the electric reel is mounted on the side that tells you. The electric reel is marked S 3329 The pole has a bent butt and has 3 roller eyes and the tip that has a special flip on it as shown in picture. The pole is custom made by somebody in West Palm Beach. He thought It is marked Sea Wings, I don't know if that is the name of the boat or the rod. This is a vintage electric reel from the 1950s. The body and cap are in excellent condition as you can see from the photos. But The upper portion of the handle for manual reeling has broken off. I do not know if this vintage reel works or not but I suspect the batteries are no longer functional. Over the past few years. I have seen some of these come up for auction but most of them do not look this beautiful. It has been proudly displayed in my vintage reel cabinet for quite some time and it was a"reel" eye catcher, especially with the cardboard electric sign that I made. Up for sale is a very rare. 1950's vintage Coit Electric Reel Co. Model E This reel is in very good condition and would be a great jewel to your collection. Manufactured in the early 1950's in Mendota Ca. It is considered one of the first if not first mass produced electric reels. The unique part about this reel is the electric part. Rather than reel in the line as most electrics do. This one applies the brakes when casting to prevent backlash. There is little information that can be found on this reel as they were only produced for a short time in small numbers. I did find the US Patent which describes the birth of this reel and it's functions. To read this.
