When I purchased the rod the name international was removed and the owner had his boat name on the rod and then took the name of the boat off. I have taken the rod to a couple of tackle stores and they all claimed it's a Penn International, It's 6'10' and 2 piece. The rod is in very good shape except on the reel seat theres a little corrosion, the rollers are perfect and spin like a top. I will ship it in a plastic tube.

This is an original 1766 John Penn. Cumberland County Commonwealth of Pennsylvania order for a survey of 50 acres to Robert& James McCune with Maj. General John Armstrong(Deputy Surveyor General at the time) It's in Cumberland county and reads: Whereas Robert& James McCune of the county of Cumberland hath requested that we would allow him to take up Fifty acres of land including his improvement adjoin their other land they claim under a warrant of the 13th day of May 1763 in New Township formerly Hopewell in the aforesaid County. for which he agrees to pay our use fifteen pounds ten shillings. Current money. This document was dated the 20th day of October 1766 and signed by John Penn. It is directed to John Lukens(Surveyor General of the Commonwealth) and also re-directed to John Armstrong. John Armstrong(1717-1795) A civil engineer ... moreand a surveyor for the Penn family. The proprietary owners of the colony. In 1750 Armstrong laid out the first plan or plat for the town of Carlisle. He was one of the first settlers in Cumberland County. In 1756 he led the Kittanning expedition and in 1758 as a colonel led 2700 Pennsylvania provincial troops on the Forbes expedition. Armstrong became good friends with other militia commanders of that expedition including George Washington. Armstrong was appointed Brigadier General on 3-1-1776. He was sent south to Charleston at the battle of Sullivan's Island. Upon his return he was appointed Major General. Armstrong served at Brandywine and Germantown. Armstrong county is named for him. He died in Carlisle in 1795. This original. In laid paper, is in great condition for its 248 years of being out of the sunlight and only re-folded a few times. Penn International 50 Big Game Conventional Lever Drag Reel
This reel has seen a lot of use. But it still works well enough to catch big fish. Particulars: Original 50 International(1967-1986) Parts are still available online. By the way. Reel turns smoothly. Drag is strong and smooth. Clicker works. Lots of scuffs and some corrosion damage. But these spots have been polished smooth. Button for preset strike drag stays down. Could be fixed but I didn't bother since you can just use it as a marker instead of a stop. Reel was recently rebuilt and lubed. I have caught a few sharks with it. And it's reliable in action.

The reel comes with a Calstar 655XH 40-100 Stand Up Rod. The reel works smoothly and does have some scratches on it from use. One of the small spring loaded buttons that are on the lever drag bracket is stuck in the down position. The button needs to be cleaned and oiled. There are no dents on the reel and it is very smooth and the lever drag works fine. The reel also comes with a nice soft spray cover that protects the reel from salt spray while running out to fish. Spooled with 60lb. ... moreline. The rod is a nice 5' 6" long stand up that is great for fighting tuna. Shark, or billfish.
