The reel is in excellent shape with the only signs of wear ... morebeing on the front bar, and reel stand. Every other part this reel was built with is NOS. The spool is from another reel that was never used, but technically, it has to be listed as used. This reel is ready to fish, and would be a nice addition to your fishing arsenal. It has excellent free spool, excellent new HT100 drags, shifts in and out of gear very smooth, and does come with the rod clamp as well. Other than what was already disclosed, the reel shows as new. These reels are real work horses, very strong, and can tackle very big fish. Although the bar says"HL" the reel is an"H" as it has the chrome bronze spool. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and local pick-up is always welcome. Please do not bid if you have less than five feedbacks without first contacting me, or I will cancel the bid. ONE PAIR MATCHING PENN SENATOR 9/0 REELS ON 5'6" St. CROIX / AFTCO RODS CLEAN
This auction is for a great pair of vintage matching deep sea rods and reels. We have two vintage Penn Senator 115L 9/0 game fish reels mounted on a matching pair of St. Croix 5'6" deep sea rods. Both with a full complement of roller guides. Both of the rods are marked St. CROIX MADE IN THE USA. 8906-XXH-AR-5'6" Line WT. 80-130lb. The roller guides and reel seats on both of the rods are marked AFTCO. The Penn Senator reels are both working fine and they are in very nice condition with only minor pitting. Scuffs, and scratches attributed to normal use. It is difficult to be exact on the year of manufacture but t he rods and reels both appear to be 1980's vintage. I do not know the test strength of the line on the reels but there is a lot of line on each reel. Both of the of rods and both of the reels( with the handles ... moreremoved) will be shipped in one box. An Penn wrench will be included with the sale for handle reattachment.

Here is a nice old Penn Special Senator Rod. Please see the pictures as they are the best description of the item. I used the rod several times for pier fishing. There is a small chip in the clear coat near the handle as shown in the pictures. Also one of the guides cracked about two years back. Vintage PENN Senator 114H 6/0 Made in USA You are bidding on a Vintage PENN Senator 114H 6/0 Fishing Reel. Cosmetically it has lots of wear and weathering and a few splits in the rings as you can see in the photos. The chrome parts- seat. Rings, crank, star, lever, posts and hardware all have wear and weathering, and the rings have a few splits. Spool has some lite wear and still looks to be in very good shape. The plates are in good shape with normal surface wear for a used reel. The super-sized and zoom-able photos show the reel quite well. This Senator 114H 6/0 still works and ready to fish. The bearings do have wear and they make some noise but the freespool mode and cranking both work well just some noise coming from the bearings. Otherwise it c ranks quite well with good gears and nice click and solid anti-reverse. Drag works nicely ... morewith a good range strong and smooth and also has a well working clutch. Has a very nice working clicker and clicker switch. Lots of finish wear. Bearings are noisy but still a good working solid reel ready to fish. Steel 2:1 gears, and a drag access from the handle side(drags can be serviced by simply removing the handle, star, and spacer sleeve! This thing is a tank that was built to last! I just did a complete service on this reel. By complete, I mean, completely disassembled, cleaned, greased, and i replaced the drags with a genuine penn ht100 kit with new steels and 5 carbon frictions(so it has the updated drag stack in it) This reel is mechanically top notch, very smooth, and incredibly strong. This is an excellent choice for trolling, or using the hard low gears with an easy 25-30lbs of drag to literally winch grouper out of their holes. Cosmetically it is a very nice reel, it has some scratches(most of which do not go through ... morethe chrome) and a few small speckled spots, which can be seen in the photos(but are barely noticed in the sun) What you can also see in the photos is my reflection in the chrome! When I bought this reel. I was just getting into conventionals and saltwater. I honestly had no idea how big it was. The specs claim 1075 yards of 80lbs braid or almost 400 yards of 60lbs mono! Combine that capacity with steel gears and a powerful drag, and that is a huge fish! I love the look and feel of it, but I don't have anywhere to use it. This reel is too nice to sit on my shelf, it needs to be fighting big heavy fish somewhere. I have no idea the vintage of this reel, but they were introduced somewhere in the late 30's-early 40's.
