710 Fans Here is a 710 Greenie with a"bailless" kit. I don't know if this was a factory. Store bought or home made kit. There are two drain holes drilled in the rotor that do not look factory. I have completely dismantled. Cleaned and greased the reel. Rotation is smooth. And the reel is excellent mechanically. It is spooled with braid. The braid seems to be in good condition so I did not re-spool. There is some paint loss. Chipping and scratching. Please see the included photos for details. Please email with questions!

PENN 706 Z OLD SCHOOL SPINFISHER Original Production Run 1993- +/ 2003 This Reel is a Circa 07/02/2002 TO 2003 Production Model- Last years of original run Includes Original Box and Packaging. Manuals and Schematics Warranty Sheet dated 7/02/2002 The Henze family which owned PENN up until 2003 decided to stop manufacturing them in the early 2000s. This was when PENN was beginning plans to transition some spinning reel manufacturing overseas. The volume on the Z series in the late 1990s and early 2000s was dwindling which made it far less attractive to retool overseas. And with the Spinfisher and Slammer reels being the top 2 priorities it seems like the Z series was left behind. If you want a nice manual pick up spinning reel, it doesn't get any better than the original edition of the 706 Z Spinfisher. A ball bearing reel with a bronze ... moremain gear. Fold-down handle and a 3.8 to 1 gear ratio cranks line in at a respectable 33 inches per turn. Once you get used to using the manual pick up you may find you will never go back to a bailed spinning reel. On another note. There are Less parts to malfunction. This reel is very good plus cosmetically. Very good mechanically EXCEPT that the bail spring is missing, needs to be properly replaced. It is in a vintage Spinfisher 710 box, Penn Fishing Tackle Mfg. Co.Philadelphia 32, Pa. early 1960s or before. The Instruction Manual is later, with a 19132 zip code. The medallion on the side plate identifies it as a model 712, which gives it a gear ratio of 4.1 to 1, suggested line tests of 6 to 15 lb. You also get parts, a wrench and reel lube. This is a smooth running reel of known quality.

Vintage PENN 710 "GREENIE" SpinFisher spinning reel , Casting, Fishing, U.S.A.
The reel in the photos is the one you will receive. This reel is used although it has been sitting for many years now. This sat on a shelf before I rescued it. Now it is up to the new owner to bring this back to life and use it again. The reel spins and the clicker switch works. The tensioner also works. I am not an expert and as I said it has been sitting for many years so it may need to be rebuild. The latch does not pop back completely when you reel after flipping it over to free spool.
