1920 Stella guitar vintage parlor project
Cool little'decalcomania' Stella with a"Galiano" label in need of some TLC. Made in NJ circa 1920 by Oscar Schmidt. In good v.g. condition for age apart from a few dryness splits on the lower bout of the top. This old Gal' was stored de-tuned. So the top is still nice and flat, and the neck angle is not too bad. There's a little 2 1/2" dryness split on the back not visible in photo. This ladder braced steel string guitar is solid: the top& bottom braces are still firmly attached and don't rattle when you tap on the body. The bass side lower bout has hairline crack which will flush-up perfectly(the end block is NOT cracked and the crack stops before the waist) Cool silk rope/ strap is fine shape and totally usable. The end pin is aluminum and circa 1920- it pushes into the guitar. It's not screwed ... morein. Neck is nice& straight and with a little work you'd be able to set this up with a 1/8" string height without resetting the neck. All original finish. Original tuners look good. 13 1/2" lower bout width. 25" scale length. 1 7/8" nut width. Exhibits two different types of kerfing connecting the sides: it's got square kerfing on its top. Rosewood fingerboard and reproduction rosewood bridge that matches the catalog photos. Body is 19" long. 3/34" deep, with an upper bout of 11 1/2" Scale leng th is 25 1/2" Bone nut width is 1 13/16" Nice straight V shaped mahogany neck. Shows almost no fret wear, with an action height of 6/64" bass side. 5/64" treble side with no fret buzz and room to go u p or down on ... morethe saddle. 1930 Stella parlor with cool hawaiian stencil project for repair
Needs work: Cool 1930's Oscar Schmidt Stella with the U.A.C. peghaed stamp. This old Birch bodied guitar(13 1/2" lower bout) exhibits all the Oscar Schmidt attributes including: 25" scale length square top kerfing/ beveled back kerfing ink stamp on top brace curve to back of guitar angled neck heel reverse gear tuners w/ tiny flat slot screws. Won't take much work to get her playing them blues. The top is sunken a bit because the bridge plate is completely loose(bridgeplate itself is in great shape and is not warped) A little bit of the bridge has chipped off next to the low'e' slot. So you'll have to glue on a new sliver. No missing parts but there may be loose braces. Neck is straight but may need to be reset. The strings and bridge are intact and the neck tension is normal. The geared tuning pegs are functional. There are no separations. It measures approximately 37 inches long. 13.5 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. Stella was one of several musical instrument brands made in Jersey City. New Jersey by the Oscar Schmidt Company. 1970'S STELLA FRAME AND FORK SET WITH MATCHING PUMP
I believe this is a new old stock frame. It belonged to my uncle. It has a Phil Wood bottom bracket. The paint has got some defects around the area below and near the shifter mount(which you can see in the last photo#12) as well as various small chips which also show in the photos. Stella Harmony guitar. S-67, which is summer of 1967. Essentially a project guitar and something I have had a ton of fun playing. I have several and it is time let it go. I am listing it for parts. If you like it as is when you get it, then you have a bonus! The neck has the usual little dip in the middle which makes the action not terrible. But“mushy” I have photographed the most serious issue which is the neck heel with the poor man’s neck reset. There was a little lift so I thought what the heck. Put in screw. READY to PLAY PLEASE READ SHIPPING INFO BELOW High Resolution Photos Available Here: Description: This is an excellent example of the famous Oscar Schmidt"First Hawaiian Conservatory of Music" Guitar. The guitar is in excellent condition for its age. With its original finish in very good shape and no cracks! The guitar has a very loud and growling tone as you would expect from an old Stella. I love these guitars. Oscar Schmidt made"concert" size guitars are my favorite guitars period. Repairs: The guitar has had a neck reset and now plays with nice action. The neck joint is solid. When I reset a neck. I fit the dovetail joint tight enough that you could string it up without glue and the heel wouldn't budge. I have this one setup with an ... moreaction height of 1/8" at the 12th fret. There is plenty of saddle left if you wanted it lower still. The fretboard has been refret and the maple ebonized. It isn't quite black, more of a dark grey. I also made a replica bridge out of a piece of cherry and ebonized it as well. My ebonizing process was actually creating a chemical reaction on the surface of the wood to turn it black, instead of staining. I made the new bridge to allow for better intonation. These guitars were often setup at the factory with the bridge located too far forward, as was the case with this particular guitar. You will notice in the photos that the bone saddle is placed further back on the bridge than usual to correct this. I wanted the new bridge to have the same footprint as the original and with the exception of saddle position, be identical. the guitar also had a few brace tips glued down and is now totally solid. Hello. Up for auction is this Stella Azzurra Bellagio Carbon Cyclocross Fork. This is a fantastic riding carbon fork with a strong aluminum steerer tube. It is for cantilever or V-brakes. Has handy fender mounts. So in addition to cyclocross this fork would make a suitable commuter or light touring fork. I am the original owner of this fork and bought it new directly from Serotta Bicycles. At the time they were spec'ing this fork on their stock cyclocross bikes. I used this fork on a 57 cm cyclocross bike. Please check the specs below for steerer length so you can make sure it fits in your bike. Condition is used. Generally good used shape. Ready for many more miles. No crashes or abuse. The only blemishes of note are some chips around the crown from crown race removals. VINTAGE STELLA HARMONY H6128 ACOUSTC PARLOR GUITAR.70's Made in Chicago for Harmony in the early 70's There is a label glued inside that reads. STELLA H6128.you can see it in the photo's. These Parlor guitars have a fun 60's- 70's sound and are remarkably loud for their size. The fret board is in good condition. Neck joint is solidly attached to body. There are two original large wooden braces inside solidly glued to the back that make the Stella a sturdy music machine. a third much smaller one was loose in the case when I bought the guitar some five years ago. I will include it though the guitar really doesn't need it. that's why I never glued it back on. I put new strings on it when I first got the guitar and I have barely ever played it(maybe 2 or 3 times) since. The action is a little high as with most of them ... morebut it's more than fine. Bridge is solid. Guitar has nicks. Dings and scratches but nothing deep( No cracks) and that's what a Parlor Guitar is all about. Tuners are shiny and clean and work well, same with the tail piece. Guitar stays in tune well and neck has little or no wear. I'm sure you'll be proud to leave it out as part of your decor. it's inviting. Bid with confidence. I want my buyers happy! PS. In picture#6 the splash of red color on the tail piece is just a reflection. The tail piece is shiny and new looking. Ornate 1910-1920 Stella Bowl Back Mandolin - Needs Some Restoration
This mandolin is strung and ready to be played but has a number of issues. Mostly cosmetic. It features 23 rosewood ribs, fancy purfling and sound hole inlay, abalone pickguard inlay[intact accept for one small chip] straight and properly angled neck, good frets, and original label.The following issues are noted: Back cracks, pick wear, much finish crazing, missing tailpiece cover, replacement bridge, and 2 narrow machine screws installed to hold the tuning machine cover in place[see pic] I believe these are the major issues but please examine the pics and contact me if you see something I might have missed or just have questions. Tag, number, or anything else that helps me identify the maker. Based on a few internet searches. My guess is that it is either a“Stella” or a“Vega” but I’m not a Banjo-Mandolin expert. Frets appear to be nickel-silver and have very little wear Fingerboard appears to be rosewood. But I can’t be sure about that(looks too dark to be mahogany and I know it’s not ebony) Fingerboard has a crack from the 9 th to 15 th frets– but playability is not affected in any way(see photo) One position dot is missing(these are available for Wood bridge with a perpendicular stabilizer Tail piece looks like a“SHELL” and has all string retainer tabs Tuning machines are all present with brass string pegs; turn smoothly and hold strings in-tune White tuning machine knobs are all present– no cracks; chips; or hunks missing Inside of the sound body has a wood spanner with a metal retaining bracket at the neck end Measures 22½” long; 8¾” wide at the widest point; and3” deep at the bridge. Signed Native American Pot by Stella Teller of Isleta Pueblo
This small wedding vase is a cute addition to any pottery collection or on its own. It is hand made by Isleta Pueblo native Stella Teller. Each opening has a strong orange coloring. The outside of the piece is a strong white with her design painted in black slip. The piece is scuffed and presents itself more of an aged piece. The pot measures 4" high x 3" in width at its widest point. The bottom is signed in her script. Born. Raised and still living in Isleta Pueblo, Stella Teller is the matriarch of her family. With a background in accounting and hairdressing she began painting ceramics in the early 1960's, as a means to provide extra income for a family of seven. Shortly thereafter, she decided to revive her family's method of traditional pottery making. Searching areas of the pueblo used by her parents to locate the materials ... moreneeded to fulfill the process was the beginning of a full time passion. Vintage Kay Harmony Stella Silvertone Archtop Acoustic Guitar AWESOME!
So we're having a hard time ID'ing this particular guitar. But we're pretty sure this is one of the usually suspects that was made by Harmony or someone else from that time period. The thing that's going to give this away is the headstock. If you look closely, you'll see where there is the absence of a badge that was once there. We've done a lot of looking but can't seem to narrow down exactly what this is, so if anyone is the wiser, please let us know and we'll update the auction immediately. What we DO know, is that this is a really cool guitar! Overall it's in pretty good shape, and it sounds really good. You'll notice the neck is slightly separating from the body, but after playing it and giving it some pressure, it doesn't look like it's coming off any time soon. I'm pretty confident ... morein the stability of the neck. You'll also notice the nut needs to be replaced with the correct size. This is a great surviving piece from the time period, and it deserves to be played and to be showcased. Vintage Harmony Stella acoustic guitar model 7059 with case 1966
This old guitar is in very nice condition for its age. It appears that a something was stuck on the back of the body and when peeled off it left a mark. The action is low and it plays nice. This is the Vintage Harmony Stella Acoustic Guitar Project. 24" scale. 1.82" nut width. 13 1/8" bottom bout. 3.75" deep. Serial# is illegible. This Stella needs some work to get into playing condition. But is worth the work- a diamond in the rough. there is a hairline from the soundhole to the bridge, there are a couple of spots where the glue has dried allowing the back to become detached from the sides. There is also a 1/4" hole on the side as well as a repair on the back. There is moderate relief in the neck- resulting in action of 1/4" at the 12th fret. Here's quite the guitar for the Vintage Collector. Guitar art person, Or just someone who loves that vintage sound. This is a 1946 Stella AMERICAN MADE acoustic guitar with(i believe) is a 1920's leather case. case has minor scuffs on the corners, nothing serious. has the initials"G&S" on all locks and on the back. case has a handle too.
