Formed in 1957 in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania, USA, the Fireflies placed two singles on the charts in 1959-60, and then disappeared from view. The group was started by Gerry Granahan(17 June 1939. Pittston, Pennsylvania, USA) and Lee Reynolds and Vinnie Rodgers, who were each on their way to separate auditions for a singing job at a resort in upstate New York. Learning that the club wanted a group, they decided to form one on the spot and were hired. The group lasted long enough to record a demo called‘The Crawl’ Which was released on Roulette Records in 1958(under the spelling Fireflys) but did not chart. The group then disbanded while Granahan went on to chart as a solo artist with‘No Chemise, Please’ Granahan decided to reactivate the group in 1959 when he heard the song‘You Were Mine’ Written by Paul Giacalone. This is a very early Stella guitar. Made by the Oscar Schmidt Company. It was made no later than the 1920’s as indicated by the early-style small font of the embossed Stella name on the headstock. It has a 13½ inch lower bout. It has had a neck reset and several cracks(sides. Back and top) professionally repaired and cleated, so while it’s not in pristine condition(it’s 100 years old! it’s rock solid, plays with good action, and needs no additional work. The tone of this guitar is particularly strong– I’ve owned 8 and played a few others. It pretty much defines the Stella Sound. And having a solid birch body only enhances the dry, woody, fundamental tone. It’s the birch-bodied ladder-braced tone. 1920's Stella Galiano Acoustic Parlor Guitar
This is an all birch example with a sunburst finish on the back. The center strip in the back is a decal. Maple fingerboard and bridge with ladder bracing. My luthier reset the neck. It had a wire saddle so he. Cut a slot in the bridge and replaced it with a bone one. The action is 4/32's on the bass side at the 12th fret. There is also more saddle to cut down if needed. I. Don't see any cracks and i believe it is good to go. I don't have a case but will double box. U. S. sale only! Again. This is a nice playing little blues fingerpicker. Also. It used to have a paper Galiano label but it came loose and i took it out and was gonna re-glue it but can't. Find it now. 13 inch lower bout. 37 inch total length and. 24 and 3/8ths scale with 1 and 7/8ths at the nut. Thanks.

VINTAGE STELLA HARMONY H6128 ACOUSTC PARLOR GUITAR.70's with NEW HARD GATOR CASE Made in Chicago for Harmony in the early 70's There is a label glued inside that reads. STELLA H6128.you can see it in the photo's. These Parlor guitars are nice sounding and remarkably loud for their size p lus lots of fun- they have a 60's- 70's sound. The fret board is in good condition. Neck joint is solidly attached to body. There are two original large wooden braces inside solidly glued to the back that make the Stella a sturdy music machine. a third much smaller one was loose in the case when I bought the guitar some five years ago. I will include it though the guitar really doesn't need it. that's why I never glued it back on. I put new strings on it when I first got the guitar and I have barely ever played it(maybe 2 or 3 ... moretimes) since. The action is a little high as with most of them but it's more than fine. Bridge is solid. Guitar has nicks. Dings and scratches but nothing deep( No cracks) and that's what a Parlor Guitar is all about. Tuners are shiny and clean and work well, same with the tail piece. Guitar stays in tune well and neck has little or no wear. I'm sure you'll be proud to leave it out as part of your decor. it's inviting. I'll send it along in a brand new hard Gator Case I purchased for another guitar that I sold. Bid with confidence. I want my buyers to be happy! PS. In picture#6 the splash of red color on the tail piece is just a reflection. The tail piece is shiny and new looking. Vtg 1964 Harmony Stella Tenor Acoustic Guitar Solid Wood 4 String Elvis Movie
This is a Harmony Stella tenor guitar made in 1964 and it is in good condition. There are scratches. Hairline cracks and a large ding in the side of the neck/fingerboard between the 8th and 9th fret(see pictures) It is completely original including the tuners, wood nut, bridge, bridge pins, wood end pin and pickguard. The neck is tight and there is a very slight string tension bow however. The action is very good, particularly for an old Harmony. The height of strings above the 4th fret is 1/16 th of an inch and the height of strings above the 14th fret is less than 3/16th of an inch. The front, back and sides are all solid wood(birch) The nut is 1 and 1/4 inches and the distance from the nut to the 13th fret is 12 and 1/8 inches. See the link below for additional info. Visible through the sound hole is the Harmony model number: 5234H929. ... moreAnd the Harmony date stamp: S-64-MI. MADE IN U.S.A. The fingerboard has painted dot markers and 20 frets with 14 clear to the body. The frets show very little wear. The bindings are painted and they have been touched-up.
