Bamboo Ferrule Fly rod
Lightly used Bamboo ferruled Fly rod. I used this a couple times in the fall and in the winter months for steel head coming off lake huron into the tribs. Great rod no flaws. No glue marks no problems. I prefer making these now then ever. Last year and this year I have developed a proper taper for these rods so alot of time care and math went in to this. Because with these Bamboo ferrules its hard to just pluck an existing taper, say an old orvis or payne taper and make it into a Bamboo ferruled rod, action was intended for rods with a metal ferrule. Which ofcourse has a downside itself mainly it created a dead spot/ stiff spot above and below the metal ferrule thats where they break usually. But with the bamboo ferrules(B.F's) there is no dead spot, no metal/ transfer of energy between materials, So it is in all since the B.F rods act ... morein the same action as a one piece rod. with the great advantage of breaking down rather then trying to travel with a 6 or 7 foot one piece rod. But any how. With out giving away my tapers, i do have all other spec's for the rod, so here it is: 100% hand milled not by a machine, Hollow built construction. Blonde rod. The B.F's are hand milled out from the swells from the last station by hand( razorblade) to fit exact, no looseness of failier when fishing, I also pre waxed them. they fight very tight. On my taper there is a large increase of slope in the butt section with additional huge swells above the grip, for extra power and flashiness. Thread work is all 100% silk and in red with black frames, aditional the B.F's are clear wraps with a clockwise twist underneath the clear thread. i do this now to all my rods signature wise, and also because after several with the B.f's the same colour as the thread work I fount its just too much colour/ and more distracting as a solid colour) So with the clear its more natural and asteticly pleasing that does not distract too much. also on this there are intermediat wrapps between the guides as well. Orvis Superfine Trout Bum 6' 2 wt 4 piece rod in excellent condition! This is on of the 1 oz series of Orvis rods although I believe that this one actually weights 1.2 oz. It feels extremely light in hand and is a joy to cast! It's a Full-Flex 3.0 rod using Orvis' measuring system but it's not a slow rod and casts very nicely with both 2 and 3 wt lines. I used a 2 wt double taper on it with great success. At 6' in length and 4 pieces the rod tube is less than 22" long and fits easily in carry-on luggage. This is perfect for small stream. Tight quarters fishing. The rod is in excellent condition with very few signs of wear. I went over it from tip to butt while with a damp rag to make sure there were no scratches or gouges. The cork is also in great shape as you can see from the photo. The rod sock is in very good ... morecondition with no stains. This auction is for a classic 1940's vintage American made. Split bamboo 8 1/2' fly fishing rod with the original sock and case, marked on the rod decals: MONTAGUE RAPIDAN- TONKIN. This genuine Tonkin Cane rod has four pieces including the extra tip. This fly rod is fully functional and in excellent condition appearing just very lightly used with no damages and still showing 100% of the original varnish. With one tip it actually measures 102 1/4" and with the other it measures 101 3/4" With the shorter one it is perfectly straight and with the other it is near very straight. The 3 piece rod weighs 5.8 ozs. with either tip and in the tube the total weight is 1 lb. 4 ozs. The sock is also in very good to excellent condition with no damages and the tube still shows the original label and light storage wear but still in very ... moregood condition. As always. Tip section measures 38 3/4" The butt section 39 1/4" the difference likely the result of the repair, shown in the last 2 pictures. I am offering the rod here as a USED rod with no reserve. The taper is an exact copy of a PHY Driggs River Special. The tips are bookmatched, full length and straight. The high grade nickel-silver CSE ferrules separate with a resounding"pop" The rod has a cigar style grip and downlocking slide band reel seat over a maple spacer. And is wrapped in antique gold silks. All the nickel-silver parts are blued. The stripper was upgraded to an agate guide. Blade is Goldenrod with multi color nylon guide winds. Ferrules are nickel silver over brass roll welted. Stainless steel stripper guide, 5 stainless steel snake guides, and a chromed tip top. Rod has 2 blank cracks eminating from the top of the cork grip which end several inches below the stripper guide(see pics) They do not appear to affect rod use since they are paralell to the blank fibers. These have been re-inforced with the addition of ... morea standard stainless hookkeeper and 5 decorator wraps of 1/2" each in matching multi color nylon. I have for sale a used/ Like new Echo Edge 8 ft. 4 in.7wt rod with matching Echo Ion 7/8 wt reel Loaded with AirFlo Ridge Bass/Muskie floating line. I say like new because I have only used the rig 2 times last summer(2012) The cork on the handle even still has the new feeling on it. Its a sweet casting little rig that will really let you throw some line. Well more than my abilities will allow. I really like the the rig and hate to part with it but I need the money more. Lee Wulf I am a cane rod builder and I bought three of these rods in the late 90s souly for the purpose of collecting and having these rods on hand to mic the different stations. Classic Montague Rapidan 9' Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod 3/2
This is an interesting rod. All sections are straight and the proper length. The Montague Rapidan decal is about 50% This has a wood spacer on the downlocking slide band reel seat. Not typical of Rapidans. The guides and tip tops are all new,nicely wrapped in gold with black tipping. The stripper guide has an artificial agate insert. The tip tops are two different styles. The male ferrules show considerable wear and are not particularly tight The varnish is very good, obviously redone when the guides were replaced. Overall this rod is very good cosmetically, should fish well with some slight adjustment to the ferrules. Comes with a non-original cloth bag.

SAGE Launch 690-4 9' 6wt Fly Fishing Rod. Used Sage fly rod with lots of fish catching mojo. I've used this rod for the last few summers and its a great streamer and large dry fly stick. The cork is soiled but not damaged. The rod has some wear on the ferrules and 2 scratches on the 2nd section as shown in the pictures. This is an older HERTERS 7' Fiberglass Fly Rod. Mdl. RB6YIS6 from an estate in Green Valley, AZ. Very nice condition all-around with no serious shortcomings. Just some very light scuffs in the finish here and there around the lower 8" of the fiberglass. All of the windings are excellent. It has an interesting reel seat that is moveable throughout the length of the grip so it can apparently be used for spin casting as well. Satisfaction guaranteed. See the pics for more info.
