The rod is a 6 weight weighing 2 3/8 oz. And made between 1971-1974, it is a beautiful light action rod with action and sensitivity that is second to none. The rod is in wonderful condition considering its age, it does have a small piece of the cork missing and the weight and model writing is worn as you can see in the pictures. Sage GFL 686 from Winslow Mfg...RARE...Near Perfect..1st Generation Sage Fly Rod
RARE! Rod is in near perfect condition. One of the first graphite rods made by Don Green after he left Fenwick and started selling Sage brand rods under the Winslow Manufacturing name from 1978 to 1980. Serial number is A2012. Rod is 6 wt. 8' 6" Fish some history. Prized by collectors. This“first generation” Sage graphite rod still has many years of fishing left. By today’s standards. The action is softer and buttery smooth. Spectacular for dry fly presentation. It is smooth and soft like glass or bamboo. But with the backbone of graphite to get that extra distance without effort. This rod is near perfect. Especially for its age. Rod is red-brown with no cracks in the finish. All graphics are intact. Cork is in good condition. Cleaned after each use. GEORGE H. BURTIS made fly rod from the late 1890's until about 1916. When I had the rod professionally appraised the split bamboo and style was estimated at closer to the year 1900. Making it well over 100 years old. This rod is complete with the inside storage tube and outer cloth. This is a classic well made rod. 100% original in all respects. Stored in a safe for many years. The rod has a locking aluminum reel seat with an(GEO. H. BURTIS. WORCESTER, MASS. engraved butt cap. This is one incredibly elegant fly rod. The finish and wraps are original and in beautiful condition. Both tips are exact. Ferrules are tight and the rod is perfectly straight. 4 piece rod with alternate tip. An excellent condition 8 foot 5/6 weight 2 piece fly rod made on a Lamiglas"Perigee" blank. These rod blanks were so popular that after they were discontinued. Lamiglas had to make a special run to meet demand. The reason they were so loved is their light swing weight and terrific action. The blank feels light as a feather yet has amazing power and responsiveness. These are excellent rods. This one was made with a beautiful box elder burl wood reel seat with black hardware. There is a really cool six inch wooden handle that is great condition. The sliding ring reel seat has a hairline crack but it is fully functional and mounts a fly reel perfectly(see pictures) There are two snake eye guides on the mid and tip sections. The stripper guide is agate with a red insert. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled. There is a slight natural set in the tip section which will not affect its casting use. All of these sections are in very good condition. All three tip sections have very slight fishing sets. The butt section is 34 3/4" long. It has a gray plastic downlocking reel seat. An agate stripper guide and one snake guide. The cork grip has been shaved. The mid section is 32 1/2" long. It has been stripped of its hardware. The longest of the tip sections is 42 1/2" long. It has three snake guides, no tip-top. The next longest is 34 3/4" long, has two snakes and a tip-top, looks like it may match up with the butt section. The shortest tip is 33 3/4" long and has three snakes and a tip-top. All of the ferrules are in good condition, no cracks.

This Scientific Anglers G3 is as nice a vintage Graphite rod as you will find. These were very well made rods with the finest fittings and workmanship. The specifications on the decal butt end near the grip is a follows. Scientific Anglers 3M, System G9 100% Graphite, 284cm(9'4" Line weight 9. I am grading it as"near mint" since it is in flawless never fished condition but there is some darkening on the cork from handling and test casting it on the lawn. This is the first generation Graphite rod that SA/ 3M introduced in the late 70s to early 80s. This two piece rod features stainless steel spigot type feurrels. Two ceramic stripping guides, stainless steel snake guides and tip top, beautiful burgandy wraps and burgundy anodized aluminum up locking reel seat and premium cork grip. This rod has a smooth sweet stroke not ... moretoo stiff. It will make a superb Salmon. I have fished this rod one time. Standing mid stream. I could roll cast just about as far as I could single haul. The rod is quite simply amazing. It comes with an aluminum tip tube, separate rod sock for the tips, and is ready for you to fish right out of the box. The one issue with this rod is that one of the tip sections has broken at some point right at the ferrule location. It has been well taken care of and comes with the cloth sock and an aluminum tube with a sc r ew top. There are no defects and it shows only the slightest use.
