Here is a dandy. A vintage IM6 Grapite rod from the 70"s. This rod was made by LCI(LOOMIS COMPOSITE INDUSTRIES) when Loomis ran the company, it is made by Talon today. This mode is the EXCELON"FLYFISHER" 8 1/2 ft, IM6 for 5WT line. I don't have the bag and tube, don't know where they went but the rod is in excelent condition, all windings are tight, no varnish cracking, its fine. The cork handle needs cleaning but I will leave that to the new owner. Enjoy this rod, starting at a reasonable price. Check pictures for condition details. Scarce 9' 3" Krider Antique Rod
An antique 3/1 rod made by John Krider of Philadelphia[one of the earliest American rod makers] that has rounded shafts composed of 8 strips of bamboo. It has recently been redone with modern snake guides. Green wraps, and varnish. The ferrules are spiked with soldered seams, witness marks, and no welt on the mid section female ferrule. The original cotton cord was retained on the handle that has darkened with age. The reel seat is composed of bamboo with a mortised area for the reel foot, a down-sliding band, and elongated butt cap with the owner's name(William Brooke Raule) engraved on the upper end. Krider, Philada" is stamped in upper case letters on the lower end of the butt cap. There is corrosion on the bottom of the cap but the remainder of the nickel silver components have only normal aged patina. The butt and mid sections ... moremeasure about 48" while the tip is 17" The male ferrule on the mid has a hairline crack as does the 1" nickel silver band located 3" above the handle. This is an extremely rare rod and worthy of a proper restoration. It has a replacement bag and tube for protection. This rod is a delight! The BIIX rods cast easily and pleasantly. And live up to their claim of a wide range of casting distances. They're beautifully finished-and at their premium rod price tag, Winston also calls these"fast-action" rods. I wouldn't go that far. I find them"fast action" in effect. But more"medium-action" in effort. I slow down my casting stroke a notch when I use these rods. Clearing out a bunch of really good gear because I cant fish anymore. This listing is for a complete ready to fish Sage switch rod combo. It is used and shows normal wear. It is all cosmetic and overall everything is in great shape. The rod is a 11'9" 5wt. TCX switch rod. There are some minor scratches in the finish and some chips in the cork by the reel seat. I tried to show this all accurately in the photos. The rod tube is also a little worn from doing its job. The reel is a 3880 CF. And is in great condition. It currently has 100yds of dacron backing and a 350gr Royal Wulff Ambush line on it. Also includes a 350gr RIO Steelhead Scandi and 375gr Rio Skagit Short shooting head. All lines have been fished, but still have lots of life left in them. Pike, and largemouth. It has never touched saltwater. The rod tube is aluminum and comes with a rod sock. The tube is 25 inches long. About 5 inches shorter than a four piece, 9 foot rod tube. The tube does have a few scratches from being in boats and the trunk of my car. Has locking reel seat and large fighting butt. It is in great shape and I have another 10 wt. As you well know. Wait times for a Mcfarland fly rod can be up to a year. They are in that kind of demand. This custom rod built on a Mcfarland blank is simply stunning. The raw glass has such an array of beauty to it. Setting it off is the burnt orange wraps, tipped in black. These wraps are perfectly complimented by the orange agate stripping guide and one of the absolute most amazing pieces of wood I have ever seen. This wood is called a natural afzelia burl. 800x600 This is a vintage Jorgensen 3-pc bamboo fly rod. There is no model number on the rod but the rod sock is marked Model 85. It is 8 ½ feet long and has a very light action. There are 2 tip sections. They feel to be the same action. It is in god condition as the pictures show. All the guide wraps are intact and the cork is in excellent condition. The second guide up from the butt is missing. There are some spots where the clear finish is cracking and needs to be redone. Also included is the cloth sock. It has a few small holes. Vintage Goodwin Granger 9660 Bamboo Fly Rod. With a vintage top(not factory, I believe) and vintage bag that has protected this old rod. Very good, has been refinished to a OK status, excellent slide band seat, very good cork grip, signature wraps were not accurately done, OK wraps are secure and would look far better if given a few more coats of varnish(wraps seem to be properly placed) butt and mid of original length and very straight, 1 tip(seems original with the color and 3X3 node spacing that was standard with Denver Specials- yes, the butt and mid are 3X3 node spacings) is straight with a slight set within the last several inches and is 3/4 inch short, the second tip is a replacement(darker cane, without 3X3 node placement) is not as straight at the ferrule exit but could be easily straightened(it is a heavier taper) ferrules are all ... moretight to the wood, butt to mid ferrule fit is OK(no real pop) both tip ferrules release with a moderate pop, snake guides look vintage and tip tops are replacements(to my eyes) for me a typical 9660 action- a strong 6 weight, maybe a 7 weight with those usual sensitive Granger tips.as expected the cane work is gorgeous- the refinish might be tung oil rather than varnish. Intact GG Denver Specials are very special and if restored to better order, quite beautiful. Would be a fine vintage rod to enjoy or a fine large river and lake rod for nice trout or smallies/bass/pike and whatever grabs your big fly.
