I have had this rod for 10 or 12 years i guess.And i always intended to learn to cast it for salmon and also for coastal fishing. Consequently the only use it has had is in the hands of a few friends i have lent it to. My life plans have changed now and i find myself by a trout stream that requires the maximum of 7' of 2 wt. From what i understand it cast's beautifully and with the line in the water is a powerful responsive rod. But i have to admit its wasted in the east of England.

J. L. John) Weir& Son varnished 8' for a 6 weight bamboo fly rod from the late sixties/early seventies in excellent condition. Labeled M801.22.8. J. L. Weir& Son were a small Western rodmaker located in Los Gatos CA. Their output was small and seldom do these rods find their way to market. Typical of Western fly rods of the day designed to fish larger waters. This rod has a'crisper' action than similar rods from some of the prominent Eastern makers like C. F. Charles) Orvis, H. L. Hiram) Leonard, James(Jim) Payne, Everett Garrison and others. 9 snake guides with an agate'stripper' J. L. Weir& Son rods had a couple of unique and distinctive features; Wood reel seat filler finished in oil rather than varnish. This made it very easy to'freshen' as needed without refinishing the entire reel seat. The Sterling ... moresilver hook-keeper is actually embedded in the front of the cork grip. This spares the windings and bamboo from any damage and also provides a'resting' place for your dry fly without crushing the hackles against the bamboo as with more traditional hook-keepers. The rod bag is heavy denim to protect this fine rod. A gorgeous rod with very light wheat colored shafts, brown silk guide wraps tipped black at grip, ferrules, tips(1 tip has two wraps of black and the other only 1, this allows differentiating so tips can be switched from time-to-time) The varnish is perfect. The ferrules are nickel silver. I believe the butt cap, reel seat hardware and grip-check are aluminum. The butt-cap is labeled WEIR& SON. The original labeled(label has some scratches and is covered with archival quality transparency to prevent any further scratching) aluminum tube and brown denim rod sock are included. Vintage Post WWII Sakurai/Sakura Split Bamboo Fly/Cast Fishing Rod Kit
This auction is for a vintage five piece Post WWII Sakurai split bamboo fly and casting rod combination kit with wooden storage box. It is in very good original condition. The kit includes the rod. A genuine silk plaited line, and other random accessories(all shown in the photographs) The wooden box includes an internal storage area to store additional accessories. There is a Sakura decal on the handle and on the wooden box. The rod can be assembled into a three piece 8’ fly rod or a two piece 5.6’ casting rod. Four sections measure 33” and one tip section is 27 ½” The 6 ¾” cork handle is in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section and three on one tip section and two on the second. The casting tip section has two guides. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. The 33” tip ... moresection is not original to the rod but fits perfectly. All of the sections have the distinct“pop” sound when pulled apart. The male ferrule when inserted into the casting end of the reel seat does not slide in completely but it is a secure fit. There is a slight set which will not affect the casting of the rod. The wooden storage box is slightly weathered. And one of the hinges is loose. The honey-colored cane and varnish finish are excellent. The casting action is awesome and this classic wand would be right at home on creeks, streams, and lakes. It will also make a great display.

The real seat shows barely a scratch. The cork is unsoiled and appears completely new. The finish shines beautiful over the unsanded blank. Spigoted ferrules fit perfectly and are unscrathed. All wrappings and guides are elegantly placed. This rod is a true piece of art that has never been fished but for a few hours. To those who know them. Antique Vintage Ebisu Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod 2 lengths in one
This split bamboo fishing pole is pre WWII and is owned by our uncle who is in his 70's and was given to him by his father. It has not been used since he got it but has been stored. The pole has two different configurations. It has a tip for the formation of a 5 1/2 foot pole and two other pieces. A middle and tip, that forms an 8 1/2 foot pole. It can be configured for a spin cast or fly rod. It also has a spare tip for the longer pole. Please look at all photos as I am not a fisherman. Unfortunately we do not have the box. Here is little history on where the name Ebisu came from FYI. In Japanese mythology. Ebisu is one of the seven Gods of Fortune, said to be the god of fishermen, workingmen, and good luck. He is also the guardian of the health of children. According to legend he was born with no bones(or no arms and legs) and was cast ... moreinto the sea before the age of three. Here is a Sage 486-4 ZXL fly rod that has been only used in my Sage casting classes and shows only minor hand-sweat wear marks on the grip. Cork grip is in excellent condition with no chunks missing or hook marks and could be cleaned to nearly new with Simple Green. There are no surface scratches on the blank but the reel seat does have a slight bit of wear from the putting on and taking off of reels. For casting. Here we have a Fenwick FF109 9' Fly rod with Fighting Butt that I do not believe was ever used this is old stock thin wall and came from an estate of a 90yr old gentelman. All the guides are except the tip are tight and clean the Ferrule is tight one grip shows a little grime while fighting but shows no dirt. The tip shows a little corrosion. Tube is missing the cap. Sage SLT 690-5 Fly Fishing Rod Almost Mint 9' 5 piece 6 weight. This thing is in great almost unused condition. It has some light marking to the reel seat wood from putting reels on it(see pics) I have lawn cast this a few times but have not fished it. Really nice all around fly rod and great for travel with the 5 piece configuration. Comes with original sock and tube. Very well cared for. Edit- Just a note- In the pics the grip looks more discolored from handling than it really is. I just noticed it looks darker than it is in the photos. This SLT like the other two I am selling has been stored away in the tube for at least 3 years and as noted above I only lawn cast it before that. For several years I have only fished bamboo.
