VINTAGE ORIGINAL POST WWII SPLIT BAMBOO FLY/CAST FISHING ROD KIT This auction is for a vintage five piece Post WW II“White Bear” split bamboo fly and casting rod combination kit with original wooden storage box. The kit includes 18 assorted hand tied flies. Silk gut leader material, snelled hooks and a unique pair of scissors all protected by a plastic covering. The rod is in excellent condition and I do not believe it has ever been used. There is a 100% intact White Bear decal on the handle. The rod can be assembled into a three piece 8’ fly rod or a two piece 5.6’ casting rod. All sections measure 33 ½” I would estimate the fly line weight to be a four-five. The 6 1/8” cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in excellent condition. There is a crack on the female ferrule on the handle section. I believe this may have occurred ... moreduring the years this rod has been in storage. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section and three on each tip section. The casting tip section has three guides. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct“pop” sound when pulled apart. All of the sections are straight. The wooden storage box is also in great condition. The honey colored cane and varnish finish are excellent. Check out all 17of the full screen high quality pictures to fully appreciate this gorgeous rod. You would be hard pressed to find another POST WW II rod kit is this condition. The casting action is awesome and this classic wand would be right at home on creeks. Streams and lakes. C.1935 SHAKESPEARE #1307 "Tony Accetta Model" 9' 3/2 Split Bamboo Fly Rod With
Up for auction a Very Nice CIRCA 1935 SHAKESPEARE NO.1307"TONY ACCETTA MODEL" 9 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH ORIGINAL BAG. The No.1307 was a mid to higher-grade model offered by the Shakespeare Co. from the mid-1930's until WWII. The earliest versions, like this example, were named the"Tony Accetta Model" while the later models were the"Premier" Tony Accetta was a famous fly and bait casting champion who would be a spokesman for Shakespeare throughout the 30's and 40's. Many attribute the No.1307 to the"Bristol-Era" Edwards Rod. Co. who supplied Shakespeare with several different model fly rods during the 1930's and the components used for this rod would certainly bear that out. Handwritten on the rodshaft in white ink is"Shakespeare" along one flat, 1307- 9' on another ... moreflat and"Tony Accetta Model" on yet a third. Rodshaft also carries a perfect"Shakespeare- Honor Built- Honor Sold" oval logo decal. Built with high-quality Tonkin cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, agate stripping guide, 14) snake guides(4 on the mid and 5 on each tip) Perfection tip tops(one appears to be a replacement) gunmetal serrated ferrules, flip-ring hook keeper, metal winding check, screw-locking Edwards reel seat with black spacer, solid cork Half-Wells grip and wound in what the later 1939 catalog calls crimson silk tipped in yellow. Strictly for reference, I've added a photo of that original listing from Shakespeare's 1939 catalog. Rod is in about Fine to Very Fine- condition for these, showing only light to moderate wear. I think that a few wraps could be replacements, otherwise the rod is entirely original. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. Vintage Everest Split Bamboo Fly Casting Rod Angling Set in Original Box
This is a very nice bamboo fly and/or casting set in very good to excellent condition. There are 5 sections with each section measuring approximately 32 inches. The cork handle is in very good condition. The silver connectors are bright and shiny. The wrappings are all tight and in very good to excellent condition. The label is excellent and it reads: High Quality Everest Trade Mark Japan. There is a line winder and bobber unused and still in the original wrapper. There are also 2 vintage flies. The original box is a little rough missing one end piece. Which I do have and is included to repair, see picture#12 and part of the original label see picture#1. This is a great rod! Horrocks Ibbotson Featherlight 7 1/2 ft. 3 piece bamboo fly rod
This is a Featherlight 7 1/2' three piece bamboo fly rod with two tips. Possibly made by Horrocks Ibbotson early in the last century, the only identifier is a feather decal on the shaft with the word Feaherlight on it. The butt and both tips are 31 1/4" long, the mid section is 1 1/4" short, the finish is good with a few chips All of the wraps seem to be original with the exception of the first and third guides on the mid section which appear to be re-wraps, it has an agate stripper guide and one tip with an agate tip top, the other has a metal tip top. The tip with the agate tip top has and old repair over-wrap 3" up from the ferrule(see pic#7) The wraps are maroon with decorative intermediates the ferrules are of better quality and fit pretty well. Gently Pre-Owned. This Rod and Reel Combo was given to my fiance by a local"old timer" while he was working on a job at this guys house. They are both vintage. The bamboo rod is marked"T.K.W. and although I did research this, I didn't find anything about it. I would think given that, it would make this a rather rare and unique rod. The reel however, is a Heddon 320. It is a Daisy Model with the parts having been made in JAPAN and assembled in the USA, and does come with line on it, and it is in working condition. This rod/reel combo comes as shown, there is no carrying case/bag for it. There are, however, what I would suppose are extra rod(top) pieces, as there are 5 pieces to this all together. Montague Sunbeam 8½' Genuine Tonkin Split Bamboo 3/1 Fly Fishing Rod with Sock and Tube The combined weight of the three sections of this rod is 6.4 oz's and each section is the same length: 34-11/16" When the three sections are fitted together the rod measures 8½' The first eye is undamaged garnet/agate and the rest are steel. The first eye on the middle section is missing. The rest of the eyes, ferrules and wrappings are tight. All three sections have some slight set, but it is barely noticeable. We can see no cracks or damage to the bamboo or it's glued seams and the rods finish is glossy and intact, but might need a light cleaning. The nickel plating on the butt end cap is worn off in a couple of spots. The reel seat lock nut turns freely and the cork handle has wear and patina, but is intact with no missing ... morechunks. When found the rod had some light corrosion/dirt on the ferrules and would not fit together completely. We lubricated/cleaned the ferrules with wax and a Q-tip and they now fit together easily- perhaps too easily and the winning bidder may need to clean off the excess wax. We don't normally alter vintage/antique items. But we needed to do this to measure the true total length of the rod. The bag and tube are unmarked and may not be original. The bag has stains and rips on both ends The tube is cardboard with metal end caps. The threaded male insert on the open end of the tube spins on the tube after the cap is screwed down tight.
