Hi! For sale we offer this primitive. Antique bamboo fishing rod. This is a 6 foot model that is made of two pieces connected by a metal sleeve. 6 sided bamboo construction. Metal reel attachment. Bottom handle is turned wood with wood end finial(similar to the way Horrocks rods were made) This rod has one odd quality. The eyes are on the top and bottom of it. Please see photos. I have been fishing most of my life and have never had a rod like this one. Maybe I have lived a sheltered life. The letter N is carved just above the finial end. This is most likely a hand made labor of love. Not a mass produced item. 6ft. 2 pc. Please understand. This is a v ery old rod. It has been enjoyed and enjoyed. It is primitive in condition and in my opinion looks great. It has rubs and bumps and oxidized metal. One of the areas of wrap is missing(about ... more1 inch long. You are viewing/ bidding on a vintage Hardy Bamboo Fly Rod. This model is The Marvel. This rod was my grandfathers and he used it for trout in Maine. The rod is in perfect condition with the dark olive cloth rod bag and aluminum/ nickel silver rod tube. The history of this rod is not known. And it appears to have been restored to showroom quality. The rod is three piece, 7 ft, 3" long with twin tips and looks to be designed for 3-4wt fly lines. The reel seat is stamped with the Hardy Bros. engravings, and with the letter"E" and numbers 1798. Just above the nickel silver winding check, the name"The Marvel" and other writing appears. I cannot fully read the writing. The nickel silver ferrels are in perfect condition. There has been some work on this rod as the last eye on the second piece has been rewraped and the thread has been replaced right next to it. The rewrap of the eye is a little off in the color. While the thread right next to it is a vibrant red! The cork handle has the patina of age as shown in the pictures. The rod itself is in very nice shape and the writing is bold and clear. There are 2 tips with this rod and they are in great shape. The metal pieces that join the rod together may have been replaced as they appear to be in very good shape. A Unique Two-Piece Bamboo Cane Fishing Rod
A unique two piece fishing rod that is very primitive. It is made of bamboo cane and is about 115" long. It does have the connectors where one piece slides into the other and there is a crude tip for the line to come through. There is some leader on the end with a hook. I imagine it would work but you must put the bait and split shot on. Good luck in fishing!

Rod bag is original and really dirty but you just cannot wash them because they shrink so bad, I'll leave it up to the new owner to have it dry cleaned or not. The rod tube is after market and way better than the cardboard tube they came in. I have not fished this rod but have lawn cast it, it casts a DT5 well and lays it nicely. 1937 era HEDDON NO.200 5 FT. 2-PIECE SPLIT BAMBOO BAIT CASTING ROD WITH CLOTH BAG. Rod is in good vintage condition. All original and unrestored. T he varnish shows its age in some spots. But the cork is in near perfect shape as is the rest of the bamboo. I understand that these finishes can be re amalgamated to smooth them out. In which case, this and a bit of polishing will yield a rod that looks like new. This looks a s if it were used just a time o r t wo. Th e n put away for 70 years! Don't let this fine piece of history get away.

All pieces are full length and the wraps are excellent. You can fish with it the day you get it. It comes housed in the original sock and Custom Shop tube. It has real dark cane as the early rods did. Always though of it as a collector rod. It is in excellent condition with one minor varnish flake on the mid-section. Vintage 1-piece Heddon fishing rod / fishing pole
This listing is for a vintage Heddon one-piece fishing rod. It is used/pre-owned. It is clearly marked" HEDDON" I see no model number or year indicated. I am not a fishing enthusiast or collector. I am describing this item the best I can from what I see. The shaft of the rod appears to be made of graphite. The handle. Both before and just after the reel area, feels like cork to me. I see a couple splits to the cork positioned in front of the reel area but there is no cork actually missing anywhere. The integrity of the rod still appears to be fine. This rod measures nearly 61 inches from tip to handle bottom. The winner must supply their own reel, fishing line, bobbers, weights, hooks, lures, etc. This rod saw typical use in its day. There is wear to the factory brown paint at the reel area on both the top and bottom. Nice vintage bamboo fly fishing set. I have no prior knowledge of vintage fishing reels. Saukua set that says made in Tokyo Japan. The worst damage seems to be some peeling which is pictured in picture#7. As you can see in the other pictures the other rods are in great shape. There are suppose to be 2 clasps that keep the box closed. 1 of them is missing.

For your consideration. I have a VERY RARE find considering I have never seen a"Gal" casting rod ever listed. I have both in their cases. Model Numbers are#3151 and are both 5ft. The Gal is 5ft-S, and the Pal is 5ft-M. If I was in the market of collecting Heddon rods, I wouldnt let this pass up. The condition is in my opinion are excelent for thier age. One case has a tear on the bottom which can be easily repaired. Overall they both have minor scuffs but are very usable and displayable. If you would like more pictures. Here is an antique Homaco(Bristol Conn. telescopic metal fishing rod. It extends to 7ft. It appears to need the guide near the tip ant the tip replaced. I don't know much about it except that its from the 1920-1930's and straight with no bends and the cork at the base of the handle is pretty worn.
